I’ve had mostly positive experiences with teachers. There are duds here and there, but I’ve had some life-changing professors, and I still keep in touch with some from past semesters. I found them to be really accessible and concerned for their students’ well-being, both academically and personally. I’ve even had professors invite the entire class over to their houses and cook dinner!

Most students who made the decision to attend Tufts are happy with their experience. Overall, Tufts has so many programs and activities, it’s impossible for one student to take advantage of everything the school has to offer in four short years, but since there are so many different types of students at Tufts, all with different interests, there is definitely something for everyone. The biggest complaint coming from the students seems to be adjusting to the new lifestyle and environment, whether at the school itself, or the Boston area in general.
The Tufts experience goes far beyond the classroom, and provides students easy access to the ideal academic and social surroundings. The combination of school opportunities and local culture give Tufts its own distinctive flavor that allows students to grow in ways they never could have imagined. Most of the negative experiences that Tufts students gripe about are also good growth experiences (dealing with the weather, or actually having to get around without a car). Ultimately, graduates are proud of their education and their school. Students who graduate from Tufts enter the real world focused, confident, and prepared to face even the toughest challenges that the workplace can throw at them. The many successful Tufts alumni can attest to this.

"I like Tufts—even with its flaws. The school is growing, and it’s nice to be a part of that. I wish we had better race relations, more school spirit, and a bigger endowment. But I feel like I’m getting a real world education."

"I always thought that people who wanted to transfer hadn’t really learned enough about Tufts yet. If you give Tufts a chance and get involved, there isn’t really much you would dislike enough to make you want to leave. Tufts is a wonderful place, and I feel like I’ve really gotten a quality education here."

"I’m really happy at Tufts. Sometimes, I wonder what would have happened if I went somewhere else, but I definitely feel that I made the right choice. I really like my friends, classes, and profs. Overall, it’s been a good experience."

"All around, Tufts is a solid school. It doesn’t have a lot going for it that would make you jump up and down in joy, but if you get involved, there’s no reason you shouldn’t have a good time and meet a lot of cool people. I’m glad I came to Tufts, although I kind of wish there was more of a character to the place, but that’s tough when you’re in a suburb. A lot of people like Tufts because it’s just outside the city, but I’d rather be right in the center of things. It’s a small place, so be prepared to know everybody, but it’s big enough that you shouldn’t feel claustrophobic."

"I play varsity field hockey and sing in an a cappella group, and both of those groups really made my first-year experience amazing. Extracurriculars are huge at Tufts—there’s something for everyone, from the Tufts’ Dance Collective to a society that discusses Simpsons episodes. Honestly, I haven’t met any freshmen who didn’t love their first year, and couldn’t wait to go back."
