What made you choose your school? I had originally been accepted to several nationally-known journalism programs, but when I toured the campuses, something just didn't feel right. Students there told me it was hard to get professional experience until junior or senior year, and I knew I didn't want that. I started looking for smaller schools with phenomenal journalism programs, and when I saw Belmont's admissions video, I fell in love immediately. I showed up at orientation never having been to Nashville. It was the most spontaneous decision I've ever made - and the best!
What activity makes you happy? People-watching at Bongo Java (an incredible coffee shop across the street from campus) with a triple-shot latte and a good book.
What is your biggest pet peeve? Being put on hold for more than five minutes at a place with terrible music
What is something about you that might surprise someone? I'm double-jointed in one of my fingers and nowhere else!
What is your favorite book, movie, or TV show and why? My favorite book is "The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles" because its descriptions are so beautiful and vivid - it's like a vacation for your imagination. My favorite movie is "How to Steal A Million" because Audrey Hepburn is amazing, and the movie is witty in an intelligent way. My favorite TV show is "The West Wing" because it's brilliantly-written and the cast is the best in the business.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why? I'm dying to go to Spain! I speak fluent Spanish but have never had the chance to immerse myself in the culture. Someday I'll visit Galicia - I hear it's absolutely gorgeous!
If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be? Can I have two? I'd want to be able to fly and turn invisible at will.
If you had a million dollars, how would you spend it? I'd pay off my student loans, pay for my siblings to finish their education, buy my parents a new house and donate the rest to Mercy Ministries.
What are your plans for after graduation? I hope to work as the director of community relations for a nonprofit that supports a cause worth fighting for.
