Texas State Student Authors

Name: Nate Stanley
Hometown: Cedar Falls, Iowa
Major: Anthropology

What made you choose your school? My scholarship required me to go to a Texas university, and initially I was studying Mass Comm. Texas State has a great Mass Comm program, but then I discovered Anthropology and knew I had to get involved with that. I LOVE science, always have and always will. Texas State has an excellent Anthropology program. Also, a lot of friends I had back in east Texas ended up going here as well.

What activity makes you happy? I love to scuba dive. It is a passion.

What is your biggest pet peeve? Cookies that I think are chocolate chip that end up being raisin.

What is something about you that might surprise someone? Well, I am color blind.

What is your favorite book, movie, or TV show and why? Orson Scott Card is my favorite author. His Ender's Game series is PHENOMENAL. His characters are so well written, and his story lines are intriguing. One of the only authors who, after reading his work and YEARS later think back on it, I mistake it for a movie because the pictures he paints with his words are so vivid. I love to watch 30 Rock. Love it.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why? Probably Greece. There is so much ancient history there. Also, diving in the Mediterranean would be incredible.

If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be? I would want to be able to teleport. Traveling would be so much cheaper.

If you had a million dollars, how would you spend it? I would buy awesome scuba equipment!! And then take a trip to every ocean and dive in it with a bunch of friends!

What are your plans for after graduation? I hope to land an internship at the Smithsonian in Washington DC doing curation.
