The professors are awesome. One of the best business schools.

Dorms are old. Water heaters went out a lot. Dorms are close to everything.

Growing up in Houston makes Abilene weather seem great.

Health & Safety:
I would feel safe walking between dorms late at night. The town itself is very safe.

If you live off-campus it is very difficult to find a student parking spot. Faculty and staff have more parking than they need.

We just moved to Division I. Games are often attended by students. The sports teams however are very great.
College Junior 2013-11-30T03:38:50Z
If you learn enough about the town you can find new places to eat. Lots of local restaurants that are really good.
College Junior 2013-11-30T03:37:54Z
The library has many computer labs, as well as some of the classroom buildings. The wifi is horrible.
College Junior 2013-11-30T03:36:27Z
It is a great atmosphere for me. I like small towns.
College Junior 2013-11-30T03:35:20Z
This school gives a scholarship to almost every student which is great but doesn't do much to cover tuition.

I'm in the business school. The professors are all experienced, and have the highest degrees in their field. I would have made the same choice if I could do it over, or have gone to the University of Texas at Austin. I plan on sitting for the CPA, and working for one of the Big Four.

I've met many international students. There are many clubs on campus devoted to diversity. I think there is more diversity there than many think.
College Junior 2013-11-30T03:29:02Z
The "social clubs" aren't greek affiliated. You pay too much for only grub, sing-song, formal, and pledging activities.

Guys & Girls:
It is a very attractive campus.
College Junior 2013-11-30T03:26:20Z
The school owns a lot of the houses around campus. Most of the homes in Abilene are old (1950s). The school owned houses don't allow pets.
College Junior 2013-11-30T03:24:28Z
This is a great school for me personally. I like to stay at home. The town and school are very conservative.

There is a city bus system. You simply walk around campus; it is very small. As far as transportation needed to get home if you don't have a car, there aren't many options. Your best bet is to find someone who you can carpool with going to the same location and give them gas money.

I really like living in the dorms. Because there's nothing else ever going on around campus, most people just hang out with friends and have movie nights in their rooms. The RAs are super cool. The kitchens are nice, and there are two huge lobbies. The study rooms are nice but don't have doors, so that's not really helpful. Also, there is curfew at midnight Sunday-Thursday which is awful. I have been woken up many times when my RA checks curfew, which is not okay. That would be the major downside.
College Freshman 2013-11-20T00:12:46Z
There are no drugs or alcohol on campus. Seriously. Unless you count ibuprofen or cold medicine.
College Freshman 2013-11-20T00:11:23Z
ACU gives a scholarship of some type to almost every student. However, because the tuition is so high, even with these scholarships it is still not really affordable. The financial aid office is not very helpful either.

The Bean is the only cafeteria on campus. It is open from 7 am until 11 pm, which is really nice. There is a pretty large selection of food as far a college dining hall is concerned. However, there is only this one cafeteria, so there really aren't many options. If you don't eat the Bean, you hardly have any options TO eat.
The campus center only has Einstein's, Chik-Fil-A, Quiznos, and Pizza Hut. These places get old very quickly.
College Freshman 2013-11-20T00:07:36Z
Abilene has typical fast food chains and a few local options. It is no different than any town that is about the same size, however, everything pretty much closes at 9 pm. If you want any food late at night, you have two options... IHOP and Whataburger.
College Freshman 2013-11-20T00:05:54Z
There are many houses located very close to campus; some just across the street. I'm only a freshman so I really don't have much experience with off-campus housing.

Guys & Girls:
It seems as if half the people who come here are only looking for a relationship. There are tons of couples, and there is a joke about how everyone gets their "ring by spring" of their senior year (or earlier).
College Freshman 2013-11-20T00:02:04Z
The facilities that exist are very nice and are kept in top condition. However, just because something looks nice, does not make it fun. The rec center, however, is probably my favorite place on campus. It is extremely nice and there are a lot of things you can do. It closes at midnight though, and the pool is hardly ever open. Also, you have to have a one-piece swimsuit for the pool, which makes you feel like you're in kindergarten. There is no student center really, just a small area connected to the cafeteria. The grass is green and nice-looking, but students really don't ever sit outside. There are few campus traditions, but the ones that are in existence are a big deal to most people. Most students go home or with friends to their hometowns for the weekends, which can be fun, but definitely not what I was expecting in college. It's kind of lame, because you should want to stay in your college town and have fun on the weekend.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
