I am very happy with new choice now and want to work in the field of football coaching - particularly in the college ranks. I was always interested in this but really didn't realize how much I wanted to do this until I started taking engineering course and said "this is not me"

I'm just starting into this major/field of study - have had one semester of course work so far. The school will test you academically, but they all want you to work hard and succeed. It's a good "push" if you are willing to work hard and stay focused on the course work.

I recently changed my major from Engineering to Kinesiology and Exercise Nutrition. Although I am very good in math subjects, I learned very quickly that I would not enjoy a career in engineering but would be much better suited to working with people in sports related industries. The advisers and counselors, professors and my coaches were extremely helpful with changing my major and getting started in this new direction

I'm in the Art and Design Program. I love it. You learn a lot and have a lot of flexibility.

Considering how expensive Abilene Christian is to attend, the facilities aren't near as good as they should be. Although "The Bean" and "Workout Facilities" are actually pretty nice.

I have not found that there are as many scholarship opportunities for graduate students as I would have liked.

Drugs do exist among students but it is very rare. If they are doing drugs it is usually marijuana.

The computer labs are very adequate, if they get crowded which is ver rare, you could go to the media room or borrow a laptop at the library. Printing on campus is easy as you can print in your dorms, departmental printing labs and the library. Wireless access is everywhere and is very reliable and fast, except sometimes when there is a problem which rarely occurs. You don't really require a personal printer except you want to have yours but it is wise to have your own personal computer.

Abilene is a very isolated city where a lot of people have their cars. Places are far from each other which makes it really difficult for international students and people who don't have cars to get to important places around. You have to find someone willing to give you a ride which sometimes feels imposing. It's even better because people are very nice and helpful with giving rides when they are free. Although I see some city link buses around, I don't think they are really important or meeting the needs of some people.

The professors are great and are always available to answer questions. There is also tutoring and study sessions available to help you understand better. They have writing and speech centers to help you with your papers and presentations, which is very helpful. Classes are small which makes it easier and fun going to class. The library is great for study and you have just everything you need there. Abilene Christian university's academics is Awesome!

The freshman dorms are really great. Depending on the dorm you want, you could have a private room. It's really comfortable and is convenient to move to your different classes. There is curfew at 12 midnight in the freshman dorms.

If you ever visit ACU or even just the website, you will notice and be informed about the whole mobile initiative. ACU is really big on technology and having students be familiar in order to be successful in this digital era. If you do end up going to ACU, you have the choice of getting a free (YES, I said FREE) itouch, iphone, or ipad!! The incoming freshman for the fall of 2013 I believe is when they are starting the free IPad option. The printing is not bad at all at ACU, it is only .10 per page for black and white, AND you get 15.00 credit automatically each semester. I used like probably 6.00 the entire year! The library is great! There is a speaking and writing centers that obviously help out with papers or speeches and there is always a research library available. There are Macs everywhere and even a Starbucks on the main floor.

I am a Advertising/Public Relations Major and I absolutely love it! So far the professors have been great and I have learned a lot. The journalism department at ACU I believe is one of the best just because of the professors and my personal experience. At ACU, overall, the degree plans are really great and offer many different options, plus many times, mostly depending on the department, you can create your own degree plan (that is actually how many of the majors came into place). However, whoever you are that is reading this may be wanting to major in something else and so this review may not be helpful. BUT, I think that as soon as you figure out what to major in that is truly fits what you are passionate about then you will love it at ACU. ACU is really good about helping any student figure out where there niche is, they offer a class called Discovery that actually is only a couple weeks long--one day each week--that helps you figure out personality type, activity type, etc. and combines those things to figure out just exactly what type of job or career you are best suited for and from those options you are able to then decide on the major for you! I actually did this class before I switched majors to the one I am now and I highly recommend this class for ALL freshman, no matter if you declared a major or not.

When it comes to academics, ACU is pretty high ranked. ACU is developing current as well as new degree plans. We just now are implementing the nursing school which is awesome! I have had some awesome teachers! Everyone once in a while you are going to get a tough or otherwise bad teacher, but overall ACU has professors that are knowledgable and really helpful. In a christian environment, I have found that many of my teachers are not only there to teach but also to get to know you as a person and truly support and encourage you throughout the semester or years! The classroom sizes can vary. If it is a general class that every freshman must take such as Bible the class sizes can be at most 200 students. Otherwise, the typical class size is less than 30 usually.

At ACU there is some diversity. We have a fairly large international group of students compared to most privates schools, however it consists of mostly Asians. It is predominantly white/caucasian at ACU, but within that ethnicity is many students with various heritages. There may be definite majorities and minorities at ACU, but from my experience everyone gets along with everyone. There isn't distinct separate types of groups, pretty much everyone knows everyone and is mixed in with each other. Even though it is a pretty homogenous when it comes to diversity at ACU, it is a great community filled with all kinds of people who do not really see a difference from themselves to others but just as fellow christians.

Great professors who teach subjects well and care about students. Wonderful environment to prepare for life and career.

The town of Abilene is very friendly, but there is not a lot to do after 9:00pm. There are quite a few "small town" attractions during the day though!

This is one thing I love about ACU. The atmosphere is amazing. Wveryone has so much energy and are mostly friendly. The campus is so lively and fun.

The weather is crazy in Abilene.
I have lived in Abilene my whole life but I have never noticed how crazy the weather actually is until this year, my freshman year at ACU.
We had days that it would start out warm and sunny wearing tshirts and shorts, and a cold front would come in and we'd all be in sweaters and boots. The WIND is terrible here. Some days it would start out rainy and windy and cold and end up sunny and hot. The summer is the best season here because it is the most normal which is just... HOT.
The other seasons you will never know what is going to happen.
But in the end, I love Abilene

ACU has a great connection with technology, despite its yearly wifi problems..
But the library has lots of computers... you can even check out some laptops and use them in the library.
It has windows computers and apple computers (personally I like the apple computers better)
They work very well and are kept up to date.
College Sophomore 2013-05-30T21:44:32Z
I didn't know how to grade this...
ACU is very strict considering curfew during the freshman year of school. They have become more lenient on the curfew on the weekends..There is no curfew on the weekends!
Boys are only allowed in the girls dorms on thursdays from like 6-11 and vice versa in the boys dorms.
Those are about the only things.. Obviously they are strict on no drugs and alcohol. I am okay with that because I don't do drugs or drink.
College Sophomore 2013-05-30T21:40:30Z
It is convient in a sense that it is close to campus but the majority of the houses are pricey or run down due to the abuse of past owners. They are old houses to begin with and overpriced for the convenience. A lot of the houses are owned by ACU... they overprice a lot of things. A lot of people want that convenience so they are rarely available but it would be worth a shot.
College Sophomore 2013-05-30T21:35:47Z
The school does not provide any transportation for the students but it is not really necessary. Abilene is a small town. Most students have their own cars and there is no need for taxis and trains.

The Bean, our cafeteria, has many options and serves adequate food most of the time, with a few star dishes every-so-often. You also get a certain amount of "Bean Bucks" to use every semester at other on campus dining locations—chain restaurants and whatnot.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
