Health & Safety:
Crime Every Day – During the day I feel completely safe on campus, plenty of people around to prevent anything from happening. Unless you leave your car unlocked. Cars are always being broken into on Adam State's Campus. And at night it gets even worse. Multiple muggings, animal cruelty to the local wildlife, and a recent rape scandal make walking this campus at night a very bad thing to do. Campus Police are simply a joke and could be out run and out-smarted by 80% of the students here at Adams State.

More Good Than Bad – I entered here the year before they started construction, so costs jumped up-part of why I came here was how cheap it was. The construction jobs themselves aren't that great, I think they cut corners.
But the atmosphere here is great-it's relaxed and friendly. Since we are so small, we get to know our professors & vise versa. The environment and scenery keep me coming back.

East-West Grill – Good place to go-offers Asian food and American-kinda expensive though.

I am not living in Alamosa, Colorado. I am taking online classes through Adams State College.

Nursing Program – Good...love the block program. However, it is a new program and has a huge learning curve. The instructors are not of the best quality and they do not have their students as their main focus. Very few are willing to extend the extra effort to help.

The weather is decent, except when the wind is blowing. Lots of sunshine.

Small Town – 9000 people. Small town. Everyone knows everyone. You better keep your mouth shut, or it will get back to your instructors or advisers, and it comes out in your grades.
Not many choices for shopping. Great restaurants, if you like Mexican.

Maxed Out Federal Student Loans – I had a rude awakening this year when I found out that I had maxed out my financial aid. Unfortunately, I ran out of money before I finished by B.A. In addition, because I don't attend classes at the campus, I am not eligible for any scholarships through the school, nor a Perkins Loan. Up until this time, however, the financial aid office has been wonderful. I am hoping to secure some scholarship money, as that is the only way that I will be able to continue school at this time. I will otherwise have to take a break, and I'm worried that I won't go back once I quit.Securing some scholarship money is very important to me.

Extended Studies Student – This is my third semester at Adams. I have never been to the campus, as I only take online classes and live in a different town. I am very happy with the program that I am in, and have nothing but good things to say about my experience at Adams.

The Valley – I like the town because, is very quiet and close from the stores. The town has some beautiful attractions lie for example; The sand dues. Most of the people that i know from the Valley knows how to play sports. they love sports and i do too. The Valley and the college make works hard in my classes because there is not a lot of distractions in here.

Places to Dine When the Cafeteria Doesn't Do It for You – This is a smaller town but there are two private businesses near campus that are very popular. The first is The Campus Cafe, they have very inexpensive meals and host an atmosphere that is student friendly. The other is called The Monterrey Cafe, they have good food and also offer a 17.5% college discount on meals.

There is no Greek life on campus what so ever. I think there should be, it would get more people involved with the campus.

The flexi dollar places on campus are decent, there could be a little more variety. The dining hall food isn't always healthy and doesn't always taste that good.

Working on Them – The facilities are okay but they are improving them. Also they have remodeled the gym and it looks GREAT!

Adams State is not that strict. They are trying to implement a new rule that can jeopardize someones college career. If an indivdual is to fail a HS course taken in college they will be put on academic probation and if they fail to pass the class the second time they can be kicked out.

Fast Food and Restruants – There are a few fast food places such as Mcdonalds, Burger King, Sonic, KFC, and Subway. Fast food is usually affordable and convenient. There is a Chili's which is about 2-3 miles away from campus. There are a few Chinese restruants which are Hunans, Maywa's, and the Thai House. There's a total of 6 Mexican retruants: Trujillos, Calvillo, Nino's, Mrs. Rivera's Kitchen, Oscars, The Charro. They all have affordable food.

Nightlife is mostly hanging with friends, playing video games and studying.

Everyone Is Involved – mostly everyone on campus is involved in a sport, and the community is very very supportive.

Parking on campus can be a nightmare. There is one main parking lot and it is filled up alot of the time and especially during home basketball games :(

Awsome housing department for transfer students. Great locations and strict enforcement for a better academic environment. Also, new dorm was just recently completed!

ASC Help – Adams State offers a lot of outside help from tutoring and private teacher meetings. They give plenty of opportunities to better your grades.

There Is Marijuana Everywhere – I would honestly have there is no hall that I don't smell weed or alcohol in. My hall is especially notorious for weed. You enter the hall, all you can smell is weed. Our RD even warned us that anyone caught with weed would be automatically expelled from the college. It's the same with alcohol. There was even a cocaine bust.

I Don't Feel Safe – The cost for the housing is very excellent except everyone in my hall feels as if they are gangster. They are always pulling out knives, halls always smell like marijuana, place the couches from our lobby in the bathrooms, stuff is always getting stolen, and even one of my friends was assaulted. The campus police doesn't do anything about it and neither do the RA's.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
