The drug scene is big at Adams State. Usually you see smokers around, but if you go to parties there is people drinking and using weed.

The off-campus dining options around the college are mainly fast food restaurants. They have a few good restaurants around town and they are priced to a cost of affordability.

Adams State College, now a University, has small classes sizes and is more hands on with professors and fellow students. It is enjoyable to be at school here.

The gym, library, and green spaces around campus are very adequate to student life.

Alamosa has alot of apartments and houses for rent around campus. They are mostly affordable but are not as nice as what you pay for.

Campus is small and almost everyone walks or rides.

Health & Safety:
The police do a pretty decent job of protecting the campus, but sense this is such a small town, they pull you over for some of the most ridiculous reasons. The school also has a system that alerts you if a murder or rapist is on the loose, the alert system will send us a text telling us we should stay indoors.

It snows a lot and the temperature reaches the negatives more often than usual. Classes are far away, so when it gets cold it is extremely hard to walk to class and stay warm.

No transportation unless we have our own car or if someone is will to drive us.

Professors care, but are limited in number. The English Department (my major), is close knit, and accesable.

The adventure program offers rides to their events.

Not great. Few options. No place to get a great burger.
College Sophomore 2013-01-06T07:43:48Z
The English department is very close with each other, and from what I've seen, all of the other departments are the same. The work is what you would expect out of college, and the same goes for curriculum. The English building just got renovated, so everything is new and pretty. All English Majors have the chance to work in what is called the "writing workshop" if they want.

It is honestly up to the people you know. Technically, there are two clubs in town that a lot of people I know enjoy. Personally, though, I've had much more fun going to the Sand Dunes with a bunch of my close friends, and just hanging out.

As far as I know, the only transportation they have for non-athletes is the friends you have and their cars. It's a small town, though, so everything is within walking distance, for the most part.

The RA's can be a bit strict sometimes, but it's their job. They are always friendly, though, and are usually "on your side" about most things. They honestly just want to help you.

There aren't many places open past like eight and I'm under 21 so bars aren't exactly fun to be at.
College Sophomore 2013-01-02T23:13:28Z
Sometimes there aren't enough computers in the labs for students to use but its getting better since they decided to open up another lab 24/7
College Sophomore 2013-01-02T23:10:42Z
Alamosa doesn't exactly have the nicest arrangements but they're livable.
College Sophomore 2012-12-17T18:19:38Z
There is always availability of computers on campus. I can't remember a time where all of the computer labs were taken up. As far as I know, there are four main computer labs spread out on campus, two of which are in the library. Each lab consists of at least 15-30 computers. Network reliability and speed are very reliable. It wouldn't be too much of a problem if you didn't have your own personal computer due to the amount and efficiency of the computer labs and printers available.

Although there are not really any places with student discounts, there is a variety in this small town, people just have to look. There are Mexican, Italian, Chinese/Viatnamese, and others. If you are looking for cheap AND very good quality, I would recommend Campus Cafe, which is about two blocks away from the college campus where they serve mainly breakfast, but you can also have the traditional burger or quesadilla. VERY good.

Its nice but the party house get in the way sometimes and having many poeple you dont like pay rent is less then fun..
College Sophomore 2012-11-19T18:47:23Z
Many kids smoke in genreal, so weed is commonly smoked wihtout knowing. But the majority of students dont do that on campus

I enjoy the fall and cold so I really enjoy this school

I do not live on campus or anywhere near as I am an online student living in Japan.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
