It's a dry campus and they're serious about it. People get caught drinking in their room and they have to go to alcohol counseling if they continue to get caught they get kicked out of housing.

Guys & Girls:
The ladies and gentlemen at Adelphi University range on the spectrum from A-F. While Adelphi is a predominantly female campus, the guys who play on the sports teams are very good looking. The social life of the campus is D worthy. Only a handful of students are really involved on campus. The girls are good looking I guess. They're typical long island girls who like wearing sweat pants and uggs like anyone else but they get all dolled up on thursday.

People in Adelphi is always happy, there isn't a sad moment at the campus. Everyoe experiences the same things at more orless the same time, which always sets the tone and mood of campus.

Campus life seems pretty dull, as it isn't a "prty" shcool. The clubs are all very limited and greek life isn't a turn on as it would be at other schools. They limit most things that can occur.

The access in school, is not as advanced as say using mac computers. There are Dell desktops which work at a decent speed and the printers print fairly well. The wireless access is great, it is all over campus even in the fields.

There are many transportations for people to take such as the LIRR, the buses, Adelphi's own bus route, and personal cars. there main streets around campus as well as highways. It is easy to get to school and back or to any place because there are so many ways to get around.

There's Never Enough – my financial aid process has been positive. i'm just so paranoid that i constantly check it, fearing i won't have enough money to pay for school. the only tip i have is the sooner you do it the better.

Back to School – my overall experience was a little scary at first, being i haven't been in school in years. my oldest son is 27 and my youngest son is 20 and attends nassau community college. the tables have also turned for me, i used to help my son with his homework, now he helps me. going back to school was challenging but its always something i wanted to do. i am living my dream.

Strong Will at All Time – The teams at my school are very hard working and the effort pays off. we have obtained a few titles recently and everyone appreaciates the good name the athletes give to the school.

They Are There for You – I am an undeclared student but possibly leaning towards political science. My classes are interesting and not easy nor hard. The professors are very understanding and helpful as well.

Some courses offer ample challenge to students; however, at a certain level in college, students should be given a higher standard of expectation. By the time a student reaches the upper-division college level classes (300-level undergrad, a master's level coursewor), professors should expect the students to be able to know what a research paper contain, what crediting sources means and how to do it.

Easy to Follow – Adelphi rules are really average and easy to follow. Typically, if you think it is going to be against the rules, it probably will be. They are fairly strict on plagerism, but I've never seen anyone actually get kicked out for it. Adelphi is also a "dry campus" so there is no alcohol allowed anywhere (dorms included), except for a handful of campus-run events. THAT they are very strict about.

Don't Really Take Part – Nightlife is something I don't really take part in personally. I know they are lax on "21 and over" rules depending on where you go but I never hear anything outstanding about any of the places. You are best off just venturing into Manhattan rather than staying around campus.

Looking for a Change – Adelphi students CONSTANTLY complain about Adelphi's food. It is incredibly overpriced and has caused food borne illnesses on campus. This price is an issue for the majority of students who are commuters because we do not have a mealplan to cover our expenses. The school ignores the many calls for change. The food quality is not bad but the wait is long and the food expensive.

Always Have Something Going on – There is always something going on at Adelphi, whether it's a famous person coming to speak, fun activities for various occasions and much more. Adelphi will always keep you busy and entertained if you are willing to socialize and get to know your school during your breaks. One of the things that I liked was their goal to make students aware of their happiness level and they asked students to write on a poster what makes them happy. They have a gym and group classes to keep you fit.

In the Middle of Nowhere – Adelphi University is a big and beautiful campus. They provide shuttle buses to go to Roosevelt field mall because the school is not surrounded by any stores, whether it be shopping mall or grocery stores. It does have the railroad by the school so it's convenient to travel there but if you want to get off campus, without a car or shuttle bus, you are only going to encounter houses. Keep in mind, its in Long Island so property is usually large but the neighborhood is VERY quiet. It's nothing like the city for those used to living in NYC.
I like it, though, because its the one place where I can have peace of mind if I walk outside without being involved in the busyness of the world around me.
Roosevelt Field mall is VERY LARGE and has possibly every store you can think of and its not so far away, so for those shopping lovers, you've got a way to spend your break between classes if it's long enough :)

Not Much – The local weather doesnt really affects campus experience. Snow days are very rare at Adelphi and they are very efficient in moving the snow even after a heavy snow storm.

Two C and You Are Out! The nursing school of Adelphi follows a very strict curriculam. Any student that violates the Code of Conduct are in for proper punishment. Anyone who cheats on a test or plagiarize in a paper or even get two C grades are for sure kicked out of the program.

Students at Adelphi University are very involved and friendly. When I went to Nassau Community College, study groups and other academic activities were very rare, but it is not the case with Adelphi. Students are very serious about their studies and as a result study groups are very prevelant at Adelphi regardless of color, ethnicity or cultural background.

Athletes Are Dedicated – There is alot of sports involvement in the school. There are many athletes that are very determined in the sport they play. There are also pep rallies where students cheer for student athletes.

As with every college campus, parking is extremely limited. Especially since most of the people who live on campus have their own cars. So they usually get the best spots and the commuters are stuck fighting for spots. The spots are also very tiny and most people have trouble parking INSIDE the lines so if someone is even on top of the line it makes it very difficult to park in the spot next to them. Optimal time for getting a parking spot is after dark... when most classes are already over. OR before 9am.

Hugs Not Drugs – As far as I know, there isn't really a "drug scene" on campus. I do know of some people who smoke pot and try to do it in their room but nothing too serious. Most people drink a lot and because it is a dry campus, they will often go out to the local bars and drink before bringing anything back to campus.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
