Greek life is very big at Adelphi. I love all of the people I have met that are a part of a sorority or fraternity at Adelphi!

The shuttle is mostly reliable. There were very few times when it didn't run on time. The schedule is generous with plenty of buses available.

Adelphi University financial aid process is very typical. They use the same guidelines as everyone else.

When it's hot it's beautiful! When it's muggy/humid, it's sticky!

I had to set up a date to audition with other current dancers at the school. I took the ballet and modern class with the level three dancers and then I performed my two minute solo for some of the dance professors. I had to bring with me a resume, head shot, and body shots. After my solo the dance professors talked to me for a minute about why I wanted to attend Adelphi and why I loved dance. A week or so later I received my acceptance letter with a scholarship for dance.

The Dance department is unique because all of the professors have performed professionally with at least one company and many have come from different countries like France, Germany, Columbia, and Canada. As a dancer I have ballet and modern technique classes for 15 hours a week with an added 5 hours of pointe and partnering classes. All dancers must take a dance history, dance anatomy, dance composition I and II. If you are selected by faculty for shows after an audition, then you rehears an average of three to six hours a week. You can also choreograph your own dance piece for the end of semester workshop and perform in the workshop.

All the professors are available to help you outside of class either in person or email. The work load is usually reasonable per class. Some classes you may have to write more papers others have online assignments that have to be submitted by a certain time. I am a dance major so most of my work load is studying dance by going to watch a dance show, reviewing dance performances in a two to three page paper or studying anatomy.

Adelphi is very convenient for transportation by the LIRR, but quite expensive.

There are a few bars in the general area of Adelphi, but you will have to take a cab to get there and that can get expensive. I think the bars are always crowded too and they're just a bunch of people acting trashy. If you aren't a big partier, this whole scene gets old really quickly. There are some house parties in the area, but nothing too crazy as far as I know

The Majors here, always have in internship for people that tends to their major over the summer. So it's very easy to apply on campus and off campus as well. My roommate and I have an internship at another college for $900, so Adelphi is always helping us one way or another.

It's very good, the cost is always free and the people that drive the shuttles are always helpful, if you don't know when your shuttle is coming.

There are never many parking spots available on campus during the school day. Many are late to class because they could not find parking or had to park off campus.

The freshman dorms at Adephi University are about average compared to other schools, and I like how they're organized, as each floor seperates girls and guys by a lounge so there is privacy. The other dorms however are very spacious and include everything and anything you will need to live there for the year.

The town of Garden city in Long Island is gorgeous and very safe. There are a lot of close places to drive to, to get food or be entertained.

The drug scene here at Adelphi University isnt very popular, as advisors are very strict about the no drug policy.
College Sophomore 2013-03-26T00:08:09Z
Adelphi University is a completely dry campus and everyone around you makes sure to emphasize this policy. Public safety constantly patrols the campus throughout the night making sure everything and everyone is safe, and they are very strict if they suspect anything. Classes are very strict as well in terms of cheating and plagiarism, as teachers make sure none of this ever happens.

Varsity sports are very big at Adelphi. All of the sports do an amazing job of supporting each other at theor games/meets. I am actually an athlete at adelphi and Im not sure if I would stay here if I wasnt. For the mot part, every athlete knows one another so no matter where you are goin around campus you are most likely going to see someone you know or someone who you are friendly with. Our training facilities are beautiful. All facilities have been recently updated and whether it is the court, weight room, turf field or the baseball/softball fields, every part about Adelphi's facilities are amazing. Our trainers and academic advisors do an amazing job here as well. Plus we are sponsored by nike and as a d2 athlete, you get a lot of free equipment

Adelphi has an amazing library on campus. There are five stacks of floors to study on and plenty of work stations to bring your own laptops to with multiple outlets. During testing at the end of semesters it does get very packed and it is convenient to have your own computer but the library has both macs and pcs that are available to you. The wifi connection in the library is definitely the quickest versus other places on campus. There are also computers located in the commuters lounge in the UC as well as a little computer lab in the Center for Recreation and Sports. If you do not own a computer, it is not a problem working off of the ones at school.

As an athlete here at Adelphi, I feel as if I have a lot of access to attractions and activities within the Athletic community. Sporting events whether it is for the varsity or club sports, are a huge social attraction for all students at Adelphi. I also feel as if the residence halls on campus do an amazing job helping students become active within Adelphi's college enviornment. They are contantly hanging up notices and flyers for everyone to see what events are going on during a weekly basis. The location of Adelphi is your ideal college atmosphere. You are only a short train ride away from NYC, a quick 20 minute drive to the ocean, right around the corner from some of the best local bars, pizza places, delis and of course the best mall on long island, Roosevelt Field. College is what you make of it and Adelphi's community and location provides you with every tool imaginable in order to make your college experience everything that you have been hoping for.

There aren't a lot of things to do on campus itself. There are a couple of bars nearby that students like to go to on thursday nights.

The amount I've gotten for the school I was pretty content with. I was able to get scholarships for not only academics but also for my extracurricular activities outside and in high school. Out of all the schools I applied to in the beginning of senior year, this was the school that gave me the most money. Receiving scholarships and a good amount of money from financial aid was, to be honest, something I wasn't expecting. People say that this school may be expensive but with the money you receive, it's payable.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
