Computers in the computer lab and on-campus usually work pretty well, but are sometimes slow to log-on, which can be frustrating if you're hurriedly trying to print something before class. Printers are often down, but work great when they're working! Wireless speed and access is pretty reliable, and easy.

Adler does not have housing "on-campus" because Adler doesn't really have a campus - it's one building in downtown Chicago. But they do a good job of putting students in contact with one another for potential roommate-matching. They also can put students in contact with free apartment-finding services. Because Chicago's public transportation is so extensive, you can get to the Adler School from anywhere in the city, regardless of where you live. And obviously, some neighborhoods are more expensive than others.

Adler doesn't explicitly place restrictions on students' social lives, but students should be aware that part of our assessment as good potential future clinicians is based on our actions outside of class. I think the school does a good job of incorporating this into the curriculum, however, because these are graduate programs and a professional atmosphere. People who might show up hungover or still drunk, or who are skipping class due to late-night partying will probably not make it too far here.

Adler is in the Loop (Chicago's downtown area), so it's very accessible via buses or the el (Chicago's subway system). Adler also given students UPASS transit cards, which are only $86 per semester to ride all Chicago public transit an unlimited number of times - that's an amazing deal.

In Chicago I feel that you can find any kind of food you want with varying levels of qualities and pricing. You just have to look in the right place.

Wish that more grants were available to those who do not have any family financial support.

Adler has made diversity a priority. Both in terms of its student body and its educational focus.

The Adler School of Professional Psychology is a brand new state of the art facility. There is an athletic center, student center, library, and the campus is entirely green!
College Senior 2012-12-23T19:41:22Z
The facilities are all brand new and have state of the art technology. The chairs are comfortable, the smart boards in every room are fantastic, there is computer and wifi access all over campus, and the building is all brand new.

There is a very nice dining hall but the food options are limited. Outside restaurants are all great choices but inside there are mainly vending machines.

There is no Greek Life at Adler, unless you count Psi Chi, which is a psychology honors group.
College Freshman 2012-12-18T21:55:46Z
Adler offers almost no scholarships - they need more!
College Senior 2012-12-12T14:58:22Z
No greek life at adler, since we don't have dorms.

Compared to the undergrad school I came from, this school offers practically nothing when it comes to scholarships, unless you count loans! They really could work on offering more scholarships
College Senior 2012-11-11T02:49:16Z
It's pretty diverse, especially considering we're in Chicago-it has to be diverse. But in my program (art therapy) we definitely have diversity.
College Senior 2012-11-11T02:47:13Z
As far as I am concern, drugs are not a problem on campus.
College Senior 2012-09-28T04:04:40Z
Very rigorous. This is grad school afterall! Lots of reading and projects to do. Professors are very friendly and willing to help a student understand topics. Lots of resources at the school to help with research and writing papers, etc.

Health & Safety:
We just had an update in our student health insurance, so that the insurance would offer more for the students. I wish that our school provided free counseling services though. You must have id on you to enter the building and our campus so safety is covered there.

There is no parking at Adler. Adler does not have a traditional campus, so if you want to drive to Adler, you must find a park garage for the car.
College Senior 2012-09-28T03:55:49Z
Because everyone at this school is older (21+), people do go out for drinks, but I'd say the partying is a lot calmer. Most people are open to hanging out and getting to know others in their profession/classes, so it's a very friendly atmosphere to find people to do things with

It's Chicago – Chicago is chock full of bars, clubs, and fun places to hang.

It's Chicago – Chicago is the third largest city in the nation, and is a culinary mecca. So much to see and do. Too bad I have so much homework...

It's Chicago – We have true winters and people here like to salt, not shovel. Be prepared for hot summers and slushy winters.

Tuition Has Doubled Since I Started – The cost of attendance is extremely high. In fact, tuition has almost doubled since I started attending the Adler School. I was drawn toward the school for its Adlerian history, but the administration does not strongly support Adlerian theory and it is evident. I have made the most of the program, but I do not encourage other students to attend.

Access to Public Transit Is Great – The school is conveniently located near the blue and red lines as well as a number of bus lines. No car needed.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
