It's a Great School – I was considering transferring, but when I saw that professors came up to me and started talking to me about what I wanted to do and why I was transferring it made me feel extremely welcome and as if I was more than just a number but an actual person. There are a ton of people (tutors, professors, faculty) who are willing to help you if you need anything, and the students are just great. It's a great learning community!

No Convenient and Safe Transport After Dark – Unless you have a car, or you feel like braving the MARTA past ten at night, there aren't many transportation options here in Agnes. The MARTA will get you around the metro Atlanta area, and the station is only three blocks away, but even an experienced MARTA rider will admit that after dark, it's not as safe.
During the daytime however, Agnes has ZipCars, rent-a-bicycle, and MARTA :]

We're Really a Community – Because Agnes Scott is such a small school, you know almost everyone and your professors and the staff know you by name. It's easy to get the support you need here, whether academically, personally, or emotionally. I love that I can have a friendly relationship with the Deans, and have conversations in the dining hall with everyone from the President of the College to our campus police officers.

We Need More Equipment! We have a small gym with work out equipment that is available for students 24/7 but a lot of times it is full because there are so few machines. It's difficult to find an available time. Our student center is great! With conference rooms, a lot of useful offices, and food, it's a central hang out spot for students.

There Is Enough to Go Around! There are computers in the library that are available for student use when the library is open. They are available for printing, internet (which is pretty reliable now) and doing school work. You don't need your own printer because of the availability of printers on campus. Having your own computer is nice for socializing.

The registration process at Agnes can be annoying at times. It starts with the upper classmen and then registration opens for lower classmen. And they also switch when students will go each semester.

Eccentric Atlanta – Agnes Scott maybe a small college but it has a big attitude. There is something always going on at Agnes. We are a community of women that are not afraid to go into the city and have fun. Agnes Scott College is about 15 minutes from downtown Atlanta but that doesn't mean that there isn't fun things to do in our area.

Women's Studies – The Women's Studies department is small. The belief is often that girls don't want to be a women's studies major as a women's college, but other women's colleges don't have such small departments. There are less than 10 majors. Best bet is to link up with an Emory student or faculty member to find out what's going on at Emory

The City of Decatur loves Agnes Scott students. The students are known for being hardworkers and law abiding residents. Agnes is near the Marta station, making it easy to access the rest of Atlanta.
Worst part is that Agnes is situated near a railroad line, where trains loudly pass 3 times a day

The City of Decatur – Decatur is a fun place to be, but it's extremely family-friendly, so no ragers will be found here. Atlanta, a few miles further, has lots to offer, but you have to have a car!

My Education Counts – While Agnes Scott has a good education, we are currently losing money and classes are being cut. What fun this time is for all of us.

Different Way of Living; Different Way of Thinking – At first I was extremely hesitant to attend an All Women's College, but that is now the least of my worries. Agnes Scott being a Liberal Art's College makes it possible for students who simply love to learn- to do it, without being judged, as well as being able to finish their Major on time. The courseload at Agnes Scott is rigorous, I won't lie- but I love it and feel it's worth it for the future. I have met some of the most foward-thinking young women, and feel right at home. Our professors always encourage different opinions, no matter how ridiculous it seems in the beginning. & as a student that is extremely reassuring and allows students to engage their thoughts and critically analyze without boundaries. & With that I have learned more about myself, people, and the world in general than I have ever learned in my entire educational career.

The First-Year dorms are Winship and Walters. The Walters Corner rooms are fun and have great furniture- But these are the least liked buildings on Campus. The other buildings are breath-taking historical buildings. I've always had a great social atmosphere with the girls on my floor- they became my closest friends in college. The cost isn't enormous- but if you don't have a scholarship it could cause certain problems for certain students. The Dorms are in close proximity to the class buildings so for being convinient- that it is! (& not to mention 5 minutes away from the bustling city of Atlanta). The housing process is a lottery- so it's better for the seniors and worse for the Sophmores- but hey that is how the hierarchy works right?

Get Your Permit--Its Not Too Expensive! Make sure you have a permit or you have to park away from campus which is not at all helpful! You don't have to have a car though. I only did my last two years and was fine prior to that. It is nice though!

Best College Food EVER – As a vegetarian I was worried about how good the food would be. I should not have been. There were always many options for both vegetarians and non vegetarians and the food was always fresh. As well the people who worked in the dining hall and Mollie's were amazing. They went out of their way to make sure your dining experience was fabulous. Loved the Egg biscuits at mollies in the mornings when I didn't have morning classes. I also loved that I could always get a glass of good cold milk!

It can get rainy in the winter and spring, and storm a lot in the summer, but generally the weather is pleasant enough with shorts on and air-conditioning for the hotter months. Sometimes it snows, too!

Policy can be pretty strict at Agnes, and the consequences of underage drinking/substance abuse/rule-breaking can get serious. Most of the time a slap on the wrist is granted to first-time offenders, as long as no illegal drugs were involved, but that's you're only strike.
There are a few crowds who'd rat you out, but if you keep to the right people and practice, it's also pretty easy not to get caught. And most of the time, no one really WANTS to get you in trouble...so just beware of the dorms!

Beautiful Green Campus! It's a small campus, so the facilities aren't mind-blowing--but they are appropriate for the college. The library has tons of useful manuscripts for research as well as GALILEO, the Student Center has a nice mini-workout room, the gym is decent-sized, and the academic buildings are all up-to-date technology-wise with wireless access. Parking on campus sucks, but since it's such a small campus walking isn't really an issue.
The campus itself is beautiful, with plenty of green-space and historic buildings, and always a treat to walk through, no matter how long you've been a resident Scottie. And the whole campus is geared towards being sustainable, though the grass could probably be fertilized less...

Easy, Awesome – I cannot speak highly enough of the financial aid I have received at Agnes Scott. The process has always been simple, even when I have had to do verification, the Financial Aid office has always been so helpful.

Undefeated Football Team – Smart women sweat is our athletic's motto. We have 24 hour facilities and most students are very concerned with their well-being. We love our student athletes and take pride in their accomplishments. The campus community is well informed on whatever match, game, or event is coming up.

Lots to Eat – Living in Decatur offers a lot of unique cuisine, but being just six miles from downtown Atlanta offers even more. There are tons of vegetarian options.

Location, Academics, Opportunities – Location: Agnes is all of 10 minutes from Atlanta and in the heart of Decatur. There's all kind of cultural experiences, malls, concerts, and interesting places in Atlanta. Everything is very accessible. To get into Atlanta you can drive, take a bus or taxi or ride MARTA (subway system.) MARTA isn't the safest to ride after dark, but if you go with friends people will rarely bother you. Going to Decatur is easy. You can walk anywhere.
Academics: Academic life at Agnes isn't easy. At all. If you're looking for an easy pass, this isn't your school. Period. End of story. All classes require a good amount of rigor, critical thinking, and writing. There are classes that are considered "easy," but that's only because they don't require many papers or tests. Academics are engaging, consuming, and rigorous. Personally, I love it, and what Agnes offers is what I came for, but very few people come to Agnes for an easy degree.
Opportunities: Agnes is filled with opportunities to explore your career of choice or to get involved with volunteer work, jobs, or internships. The college has fantastic relationships with the surrounding Decatur community, Atlanta, and Alumnae in the area as well as across the country. Agnes is a giant network of endless possibilities. The sooner you realize this fact, the sooner you can figure out if what you thought you wanted to do is actually what you want to do when you get out of college. Everyone here is completely dedicated to student personal growth as well as establishing students in positions of merit. Everyone is always helpful no matter the situation. It's a great place to be if you're goal oriented.

Guys & Girls:
All Girls – Agnes Scott is an all girls school, so if you're going to college for cute guys you'll have a hard time finding them here. We have a bunch of socials with Georgia Tech, Georgia State, and Morehouse and those guys are always very diverse in looks etc. The women here are also extremely diverse. We have women who wear religious clothing and women who dress and look like men. We have a strong LGBTQIA community, so anyone who's prone to homophobic tendencies shouldn't bother coming. No one tolerates bigotry here. Including administration.

Health & Safety:
Health & Safety – Agnes Scott College is dedicated to providing and creating a safe environment for the women who come to study and stay. The campus is small, beautiful, and has the feel of a park. It's continuously monitored by not only Decatur police, but also Agnes Scott College Police. I've never once felt as though I was unsafe and I've never experienced a violation of my privacy on behalf of the police while being at Agnes. The health services are also very good. There are not only gynecological and medical services, but also psychological services. Most costs incurred in accessing these services are partially if not completely covered by the schools required medical insurance. It's beautiful, safe, and convenient place to live.

Lots of Diveristy, Except for One Category. I think most people are represented and accepted at Agnes Scott. However, the more conservative you are, the more likely people are going to disagree with you and there isn't a large conservative dynamic on campus. However, if you can be conservative and accepting of everyone, then you should be good.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
