There is no bar on campus, but there is a bar within walking distance from campus.
Coffeehouse on Campus
There isn't a coffeehouse on campus, but the University does have a little café called the Black Cat Café. It's located in Alston Campus Center, and serves Starbucks coffee, smoothies, and light snacks.
Movie Theater on Campus
There isn't a large movie theatre per se; however, there is a viewing room in the basement of Buttrick Hall, and an entertainment system in Alston Campus Center.
"Green" Initiatives
Agnes is a "green" school that is always pushing students to reduce their carbon footprint. The College has a goal to be "climate neutral" by 2037, and is taking various steps to reach that goal. Agnes participates in a RecycleMania contest each year. In 2011, Agnes ranked no. 2 in the state in the "Per Capita Classic" category. The Office of Sustainability is good at informing the campus about how to be "green" and how to realistically help reduce, reuse, and recycle.

- First-year: Alternative term for "freshman"
- LGBTQIA: An acronym used to group sexual and gender identities: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex, ally.
- The Loop: "Guest" parking in front of Main
- Main: Agnes Scott Hall
- The quad: Woodruff Quad, large grassy area with trees, populated with "bold" squirrels
Traditions
- The Bell: There is a bell tower in Main where seniors climb skinny ladder rungs in order to "ring the bell." If students across campus hear the bell ringing on Friday afternoons, they know it's because a senior has received job offers or has been accepted into graduate school (or both)!
- Black Cat: Black Cat is a week of class competition and spirit where the classes participate in decorating the quad, decorating Alston, playing games, singing class songs, watching Junior Production, going to a formal dance, and participating in class pranks. It's an all-around good time.
- Class colors: Each class is given one of four colors-blue, green, red, or yellow-when they enter their first year. This color follows them throughout their years at Agnes, and enables them to show "school spirit" during Black Cat.
- Dunking: Dunking refers to being dunked in the Alumnae Pond, which is located in the Alumnae Garden. When a student or alumna gets engaged, her friends throw her into the Alumnae Pond, thus blessing her and her new life.
- Honor pledge: When a student enters Agnes, she is accepted into a college which has been student governed for more than 100 years. This student governance depends upon the honor code, and as a symbol of her dedication to "living honorably," she signs the honor pledge at a special ceremony during orientation.
- Hub Sing: Hub Sing occurs throughout the year as well as during Alumnae Weekend. At Hub Sing, students and alumnae drink to their favorite Agnes songs and enjoy a general feeling of sisterhood.
- Junior Production: Junior Production (JP) is part of Black Cat Week. It's a play the junior class puts on each year, which parodies life at Agnes as well as each of the sister classes.
- Mascots: Mascots are another way students show school and class spirit during Black Cat. This mascot is chosen the first year, is revealed at Black Cat, and remains with the class until they graduate.
- Pancake Jam: Pancake Jam is a really fun tradition that occurs each semester before final exams. Students come into Evans to be served "brinner" by faculty and staff between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.
- The Ring: The Agnes Scott Ring is an endeared symbol of ASC and unites students and alumnae. Students purchase their ring during their sophomore year, and it is presented to them during the ring ceremony, which is part of Sophomore Family Weekend.
- Senior Investiture: Senior Investiture occurs in the fall of each year, and during this ceremony, senior students are capped with academic mortar boards to symbolize their academic status.
Urban Legends
- In the 1960s, there was a first-year student who lived on the third floor of Winship Hall. She was not a pleasant girl, and she scared away her roommate with black magic. After the incident with her roommate, the first-year lived alone, and no one would speak to her. She would wander the campus at night and stay up late in her room. One morning, the first-year did not go to class, and she wasn't seen roaming the campus. The other students assumed she had left. After a week had gone by, a terrible smell began to permeate through her door, and the first-year's neighbors began hearing strange sounds at night. The RA opened the door to her room to investigate the smell, and she found the first-year hanging in her closet. It is said that the first-year girl haunts the first floor in search of others to speak to and scare.
- Once there was a senior who was majoring in the sciences. Her days and nights were saturated in chemical compounds, calculus, and chemical properties. She locked herself away day and night in a desperate attempt to finish her work, but soon she became preoccupied. She began to think of the chemical compounds that could kill a person. One evening she stayed after class and sat in the lab, eyeing the storage cabinet. Thoughts of mercury began pouring through her head, as she imagined the silvery liquid swimming in her blood. She went to the cabinet, and in a fluid motion, opened a bottle of mercury and downed it. It was barely a second later when she realized what she had done. She clenched her throat and grabbed her stomach as she desperately searched her mind for a cure. "Milk!" she thought. The senior ran toward the dining hall. She began to feel dizzy, and she slowed down, but she was desperate and pushed her dying body to move forward. She began to crawl up the steps of the dining hall, when she could go no farther. A student stooped down to help her, but all the senior could say was a hoarse whisper: "Milk!" The senior died on the dining hall steps. It is said she haunts her room and hall in Rebekah, and plays mean tricks on studious students.
- There once was a dedicated professor who loved to teach printmaking. She had long, beautiful hair and often kept it pulled back so it didn't get caught in the equipment. The professor not only enjoyed teaching printmaking, but also making her own prints. One night the professor decided to stay after class to work on a print design she had been thinking of the entire day. She grabbed her dyes and equipment, and began to work. Her hair was not fully pulled back. As the night wore on, she became tired, and began to nod off over her machine. Her hair caught in the gears and pulled her into the machinery. The next morning, the professor did not come to class, and the students were worried. They told the gallery director of her absence, and the director went to the basement. There, the professor was found mangled and entangled in the machinery. It is said she still wanders the gallery at night, watching students do late-night projects and looking to prevent another inspired accident.
Favorite Things To Do
On weekends, there isn't a ton to do on campus, unless a club or one of the College's departments hosts an event. Aside from events, students typically like to hang out with friends in the quad or go out, too.
Clubs and Organizations on Campus
Clubs and organizations are the lifeblood of Agnes. Most students are involved in one way or another with clubs and student organizations, which cover a broad spectrum of interests, such as multiculturalism, religion, language, sexual identity, reading, publications, and political affiliation. There is always a club event of some sort occurring on campus, so there's no lack of participation. The most active clubs on campus are the multicultural organizations. In order to start a club, a student must first ascertain whether or not her interests can be channeled into an already existing club. If not, the student can fill out a form and have a petition signed that says that if this new club is established, there will be a sufficient number of students in the general body. Once this is done, the forms and petitions will be given to Student Senate, who may or may not approve the new club or organization.

- Agnes consists of 24 buildings on campus and an off-campus apartment complex.
- There are 12 performance groups on campus, which are inclusive of theatre groups and chorales.
- Agnes hosts a number of events each year. The range of facilities can accommodate events that range in capacity from 10 to 500 people.
- Agnes is six miles from Atlanta, and is conveniently located near a MARTA train station and several MARTA bus stops.
- There are 20 academic organizations on campus, which include organizations in nearly all subjects Agnes offers.
- Alston Campus Center offers a variety of services to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. It's home to the bookstore, a post office, a copy center, a café, an eatery, student organization offices, and student life offices. It also houses a SunTrust ATM that is available 24/7, a billiards area, and a big-screen TV equipped with an entertainment system.
