Agnes is hidden away by trees and beautiful lawns, but it's within walking distance from the wonderful town of Decatur. Decatur is a great place with interesting restaurants and shops that are five to 10 minutes away by walking. The town is accommodating to college students in the sense that there are plenty of places at which to study, hang out, or eat. Agnes is also a 10-minute drive or train ride from Atlanta, so there's always plenty to do in regards to shopping, spending time in Piedmont Park, going to the High Museum, or catching a movie. Most people at Agnes will go off campus at night, especially on the weekends. If an Agnes woman isn't spending her free time studying, then she's most likely in Decatur or Atlanta.
Decatur and DeKalb County are places where there are mixed safety concerns, depending on the area. The city of Decatur itself is extremely safe, but the extremities of the city aren't as safe, so traveling alone isn't always the best idea. Georgia State, Georgia Tech, and Emory are relatively close to Agnes, but in order to get to any of these other places, you'll have to take a bus, train, or car. There are always opportunities to go to other campuses, be the reason academic or purely recreational.
