Agnes is a residential campus, so the only way a student will be able to live off campus is if she chooses to live with her family or if she marries while in school. Living off campus in the Decatur or Metro Atlanta area can range from being exceptionally expensive to unsafe, so finding affordable and safe off-campus housing is difficult. Those who don't want to live in the dormitories have access to the Avery Glen apartments, which are located off campus, but these apartments are still considered school housing. Most students live on campus for cost concerns as well as the benefits to living directly on campus. Living on campus in a double room costs nearly $5,000 per academic year, while a double apartment in the apartments is nearly $9,000 per academic year. The average monthly rent for Avery Glen apartments, without a residential contract brokered by the school, is approximately $850.
The other apartment complexes that are in the area are Ice House Lofts, Candler Court Apartments, and Oakview Gardens. All of these apartment complexes are beautiful and have great amenities, but they cost a lot. Ice House Lofts have a rent of $1,200 per month; Candler Court Apartments have a rent of around $830 per month; and Oakview Gardens apartments have a rent of around $900 per month. Given these options, most students at Agnes prefer to live on campus.
