My Enrollment Process – I am a 48 yr. old male. I have never been to college before. I had a wonderful career in high end retail management. I had a rare disease that caused me to go on disabilty for the past three yrs.after several operations, I now feel good enough to find and start a new career. as you may have guessed, I was very nervous about the college enrollment process. As I entered Aims community college, there was a young gentleman by the name of Eric. He had a very friendly personality. He made me feel very comfortable, and at ease. I had gone to aims to ask questions, but the process was so easy and so relaxed. I was registered for college in an hours time. I was given a study sheet for the placement test to take home. The next day as i entered the building, Eric met me at the door. I was very nervous. as to my surprise I did very well on the test. I do believe with out the ease and comfort I felt at aims, I would not have done as well as I did on the test. I am so happy with my desicion to enroll at Aims. I will never look back, Thank you Aims, Darold Liestman

The computer lab is open a majority of the time all you need is your username and password. There is no limit on the amount of time you are on the computer. It is very easy to print the things you need for a VERY low price. Also, the school gives you five dollars on your card to start with!

Aims Community College stands out because it is very involved with everything from helping with supplies to educating suicidal prevention and more. They also have great tutoring opportunities and the teachers make it very easy to go to them for help.

The resources are very good the library is easy to navigate and the learning commons computer area is open very late which is extremely helpful if you do not have a printer or word program.

The schools teachers are great and very knowledgeable and dedicated to their subjects. My favorite experience was when I was pregnant with my first daughter and was taking CNA certification course, the way everyone worked with me but did not treat me differently because I was pregnant. I would choose this school again because of the way it is ran by the teachers and the only reason I would not is the long commute to get there from my house.

We have a lot of older students that are going to college to swap careers due to the current economy.

The students and faculty give the college the feel of a small community. The faculty are easy to talk to and want you to succeed.

The health care major at Aims Community College is not very good, but I expected that. My classes are only my general classes that I have to take. Medical classes are limited at Aims. My general classes are really good though. The workload is usually reasonable with reading and writing a research paper.

Computer Resources – Computer resources were readily available for students. The school will give a small balance for printing, this was good because the balance would add up after a couple of semesters if you did not print much in a semester.

The professors were either good or not. I had a professor that cared alot about me and what i actually understood, he was nice and always asked if i was understanding what he was teaching. I had a science teacher who jumped around alot and would not give any time to ask questions i would never take her course again.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
My family situations were not considerd when receiving my financial aid. I only recieved subsidized loans and nothing more. I began paying for my education month by month with my own pocket money while working a job at an assisted living facility. I turned down the loans because i was only offered unsubsidized loans.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Take Advantage – The first year I got it free because of a scholarship. The financial aid office provides all the questions we have. The school is well know for their financial aid opportunities and thats something I take advantage of.

I LIKE MY SCHOOL – I like my school, there is not any sports to have pride in like the universitys around here but Aims is giving me a good education. However its a thirty mile drive for me five days a week and with gas rising its putting a strain on my budget.

Its definitely not a university but for a community college there is a lot it has to offer. the campus life is not so great due to people of all ages being everywhere, the campus and buildings are new and very nice.

"This Is Your Class" – The teachers will always tell you that the class is about you, you're paying for it, they'd like you to learn the best way you do. The only hassles really, is the homework. But hey, every college student complains about having work to take home now and again. As for transferring credits, I set up appointments with my advisor to choose classes and make sure that they are transferable. I want an easy transition into a university when I do go.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
