The nursing program is a two year program however that doesn't mean its any easier. I was able to transfer credits from a previous school which was awesome.

In the nursing programs I know students that have gotten job offers shortly after graduation.

This school I would say is ghetto. There are some decent people there but for the most part everyone walks around with tattoos, droopy pants, smelling of weed, talking loud and ignorant, cussing, the guys are constantly trying to flirt with girls. It just seems like a very fake generic college, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL people.

Since I have been going to this school I honestly do not feel like I am as smart as I should be for putting a year and a half into the nursing program. Their are very very few decent teachers there, and most of the others are a joke. I feel like it is a huge waste of my money and my time. I have failed a class for the simplest mistake that could have been fixed with the right help, but I feel that they are setting me up for failure and wanting me to retake a couple classes just to get more money. They have started a new class that makes no sense and put it on some of the students schedules that NO other school has you take to become a RN. Some of the teachers will happy to help you with a question while their are some teachers that say, "Go to a lab", or "We already went over that in class, ask a fellow classmate". They don't have any kind of study groups, and half of the time that there is tutoring labs scheduled, the teacher is never in that lab or is late and you only get 20 minutes left if that. I have seen so many girls leave this school in the past year it is crazy. There goal is not to "help" you it seem more they want to fail you. Everything there website says and the orientation is a big lie. I am so disappointed for putting my time and money into this school. I have been locked out of classes and they say, "well we sent you an email", when I do check my email everyday and then they said well maybe its in the spam folder. Very unorganized and I do not believe they inform you of every small detail that you deserve while paying all of that money to go to their school. If you really look at it this school is somewhat more expensive then even big colleges, but you do not realize that until you get screwed by there financial aide workers there. Just in 1 class I have seen students correct a teacher 3 times in 5 weeks of something she was teaching totally wrong. I could go on and on, but I just wanted to maybe save a few that considered going to this school to please look for other options and really think about this first.

I am taking the assistant nursing program, their classes are a joke at this school. The teachers do not actually "teach" instead they use projectors just to quickly read over notes. There are classes that akron institute will throw into your schedule that they say that you "need" that NO other school would have a person in this field take. The school is cheap and you do not receive as good of material as other colleges offer and have for their students.
College Junior 2013-06-10T03:37:43Z
This school is nothing that they make themselves look. They are more worried that you are taking the classes so they get a check then if you are ready to go out there and start working at a serious job. I have been told once their so "strict" because if they are not then when students take the state board and too many fail they will get shut down. So instead I think that they fail you before you get that far so you get so frustrated and find a new school to go too.

One of the biggest reason I chose this school over others in the area was the flexibility. I didn't have to quit my corporate job or find a way to re-balance my schedule to fit going to classes. I do my work according to my availability, whether that is at 11 o'clock at night, or 6 in the morning.

Online courses are wonderful for those who are self motivated. If you don't need someone to babysit you, and remind you when your assignments are due, it's great. Especially nice for working adults and parents- it can be hard trying to find time in your day to go sit in a classroom (especially when you have children). Their online courses allow you to do your work when it's convenient for you.

I am a business major, and happy that my courses are focused on exactly what I need, and not a bunch of stuff that I don't. They plan your course load two semesters in advance, so you are never have to worry what is coming up next semester or if there will be room in a required class. At the end of you're degree there is an 8 week internship program designed to give you work experience in your desired field and help place you with possible employers.

Because this is a small school, it doesn't have the same on campus resources as some of the other nearby institutions. There is no athletic program, a small library, and limited campus activity. There is a computer center with more than ample access.
College Sophomore 2013-06-08T12:41:17Z
The staff is friendly and helpful. They want to put you in a program that works for you. As a single mom, full time employee and small business owner, I was worried how I would fit going back to school into my hectic schedule. Their online courses make it easy to do my work when it's convenient for me. The best part is, if I need help, I don't have to feel like I'm alone. The school offers free tutoring to all of their students, both traditional and online. The campus is small, with a very limited library, but with Summit County Library just a few miles away, it's not a big deal.

Online courses at Akron Institute of Herzing University are a lot of work with reading, watching presentations, doing the discussion topics with responses, and the weekly assignments. It is very manageable because you can access everything 24 hours a day 7 days a week. There is always technical assistance if you are having trouble with your computer.

The student body that makes up Akron Institute of Herzing University consists of people from all walks of life. It is a good mix of people that all have a lot to offer each other. I am a single mother that works part time then the person next to me is a young person right out of high school. We all are there for the same reason but we all come together collectively to make it through the programs.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Always Ask Questions – The education that I am receiving is worth it. I do not think the interest that I will acrue at the end of my education is accurate. The financial advisors always tell students to only take what they need to cover tuition. My financial status while in school is not very good. I need all the help that I can get. Accepting the excess funds from finacnial aid is helping me get through the hard times. I know that I should find alternative ways of making money, but with having a child and being a full- time student, it will be difficult. My main goal is to focus on school and to not let anything get on the way of graduating on time.

I have not yet had any online courses at mym school. I anticipate that it will be a different experience. I can think of a few pros and cons to taking courses online. A pro would be that I would not have to travel. It would definately save me time sine I always have to drop my daughter off at daycare before I go to shool. Another pro is that I can learn in my home, which is a very relaed environment for me. A con would be that I love the one on one attention I get from my professors. I don't think it is possible to get that same attention from a teacher online.

DON't COME HERE IF YOU CAN HELP IT! The majority of the staff at this school is SO rude! The two registrars, the two financial aid women, and some of the instructors are completely nasty, and make you question WHY you would ever want to spend money to attend there. There are a few select people who genuinely care for, and invest in the students. The Librarian, the math teachers, the computer teacher, the Nursing program director, the nursing school admissions fella, and at least 3 of the nursing instructors. Unfortunately, if you are planning to attend, you must first be treated like a worthless piece of **** from the two registrars Mrs. Bright, and Mrs. Maxwell. Then you have to deal with Lillian and Maria in financial aid, who both take their sweet time to call you back (that is, if they even call you back at all) and take forever to process your financial aid. If you owe money to the school, this is about the ONLY time you'll have any contact with the financial aid office. Otherwise, you could call for 2 days straight and they may or may not get back in touch with you. The majority of the staff are highly unprofessional, rude, and lazy. I would never EVER go to this school if I had enough funding left to complete my degree elsewhere. The school costs so much money and then they don't even have a decent lounge, a public phone, or any interest in the students. The one Nursing instructor, Ms. Austin, is so sarcastic, you might as well forget trying to ask her anything. You WILL get your head bit off. I think there must be some consensus that the students are ghetto trash, and that's why the staff are so rude. Even the IT support in a different state are rude. Ridiculous.

This school has plenty of computers for students to use, but only a small handful of printers, and students are limited on how many pages and what type of pages they are allowed to print out. Don't expect to ever use a phone in the school that you don't bring with you or borrow from a peer. The school refuses to let students use the school phone, even in the instance of an emergency. The librarian is super friendly, and the WiFi works, but is password protected. The nursing lab has some nice equipment, and some that looks like it is from the stone age.

Only want your money – This school is a scam - they say they offer accredited courses, but the courses don't transfer to real universities, like Akron U. They are expensive and you end up in debt and unable to get a job. The education here is a joke as are most of the instructors. I am in debt and have to start over if I want a beneficial education. The ONLY reason to go here is the nursing program, but it is not nationally credited. Don't waste your time or your money. They have a high graduation rate because the education is a joke. One instructor in particular always remarks that the standards had to be lowered so everyone could pass. How does the education department let this scam exist??

Open and Honest – The instructors care about every student individually. You are always treated with respect. The library has a wonderful plethora of resources. The classes are not too big. Faculty is always there to help.

Nursing Student – I like Akron Institute because they push you to achieve excellence, there's always someone to help in whatever areas you may not be strong in, and the instructors really care about the students.

Not Too Big – The size of the school small than the local colleged. This makes it easy for one on one interaction with instructors.
