Campus Life – Experience is good so far. Great events, students, teachers, and campus. Nightlife is the best. AAMU has alot to offer for every type of student.

The weather sometimes can change up due to global warming but the weather is usually calm and hot. It gets really humid on the hill so always carry water and dress cool because not all classroom buildings have a/c.

The only team that ever wins at anything is the volleyball team. The football is horrible but the games are still fun. The girls bball team is pretty good but a lot of people underestimate them. Their is alot of school spirit. The athletic facilities are too small for the amount of students.

Restrooms for the guest and students in the dorm arent up to code. Plumbing is old and needs to be redone, the heating and cooling system never works. Living on campus is unsafe their are numerous of rapes on campus and stealing.

Could Be Better – Not many scholarships available for sophomore transfer students.

General Campus – There are no complaints about the athletic center, library, or campus activities. When the campus does have events or activities they are very lively.

Health & Safety:
I would rate this an A. Never have felt unsafe on campus, just about everywhere I go I see campus security.
College Senior 2011-05-23T00:49:04Z
On Campus Eating Sites – I have this a D because there are no eating sites within walking distances for students without cars to go to. It would give.the.students variety also places for them to go to when the cafe areas are closed.

Masters Programs – Alabama A&M is the only school in the area that offers certain masters programs. There is not another school in the area that offers a Clinical or Counseling Psychology program or a fast track MBA program.

Computer Labs – There is a computer lab on the bottom floor of the library. That is the only computer lab I have seen so far. The computers are fairly new and in good shape. However, if you have password problems you will have to jump through a ton of hoops before you will be able to log on.

Stay on Top of Things – Alabama A & M is what you make out of it. Do not expect people to keep up with courses taken for you. You will have to stay on top of professors and staff. The best advice is to make a copy of everything you submit and a note of who you submitted it to.

Drugs and Alcohol – I've heard that drugs and alcohol are a big issue at A&M, but I've encountered any problems with it. I think it just depends on the group of people you hang out with.

Greeks play a major role on campus. Each Greek organizations is always putting on some type of event, forum, or step show. They are usually friendly to students who are not a member of their organization. Some non-Greek students, idolize students who are Greek because they carry a lot of social status and they are typically popular. Most falculty members are Greek and they are very supportive of their organizations. At A&M, every sunny Wednesday all the Greeks come out to the quad and stroll. Students and falculty usually come out to watch the Greeks perform. It's a really fun event for both students and falculty.

Off Campus Eating – There are a variety of off campus dining options that students can go and enjoy a good heap meal. Some of the places include: Cheddars, Apple Bees, 88 Buffet, and Five Guys. These are just a few of the resturants many students go to dine. The only problem with these places is that they are not in walking distance. You need a car to get to most of the eating places that are near campus. Now the fast food places are a little more convenient for students. Most students dine out at McDonalds, Toco Bell, Wendy's, Sonic, Burger King, and Churches Chicken. These are the the fast food resturants that are student friendly. These fast food places are all very close to campus, and all have meals that are in a college students price range.

Closed Campus – Having a closed campus can be headache, especially for those commuting. We don't always have parking and the police are quick to give a ticket if we're not parked in commuter parking spaces. Those that live on campus often take the commuters parking spaces

Guys & Girls:
Typical HBCU – At AAMU the girls are your typical southern black girls...everyday they seem to dress like everyday is a fashion show. There are many good looking guys from dread heads to your preppy or futuristic swag type.

Freshman Experience – I enjoy attending a HBCU. There is alot of activities to do and new people to meet. I just don't like on campus living.

I have recieved plenty of parking tickets during this school year. Behind my building there is limited parking that is not enough to provide and accomendate all the residence of my hall.

Off campus housing has alot of different views to it. It provides more freedom to the students. It also has less restrictions and rules. Mostly all students would prefer to stay off campus and live.
Living off campus students wouldn't have to be worried inside their rooms and space. Here at Alabama A&M, i have had problems with my roommate going through my belonging. This caused me to make sure everything was locked up inside my closet each and every time i left my room. I feel that I shouldn't have to be so secretive and worried inside my own room. Living off campus, students wouldn't have to worry about anything being missing or damaged because they would have their own room.
Freedom is available also. One thing that students don't like about living on campus is the visitation rules. Living off campus will allow you to have any vistor as you please, any time.
The cost of living off campus is expensive. You would have to pay every month rent while living on campus, your room and board will be included in your tuition. Also, students will have to provide themselves with their own food. Living on campus, you will have a meal card that is required for on campus living students.
Living off campus you would have to make sure you have a garauntee way to and from classes. Living on campus would be beneficial because you would be around everything and wouldn't have to worry about getting to class on time or school functions.

Buses Are the Best Option – The best way to get around campus, or even to the mall or grocery store, would be by catching the bus. It's already included in tuition, so it's best to take advantage of it.
College Senior 2011-04-25T20:37:44Z
Mostly Black Students – Of course there is not much diversity at an HBCU college. There are few different ethnicities scattered throughout, but mainly blacks.
College Senior 2011-04-25T20:36:38Z
The dorm facilities at A&M are not all that great. There's is little space, and throughout the semester the building tends to have trash throughout. Also, they are rather expensive.
College Senior 2011-04-25T14:31:17Z
A&M do not really have any order when it comes to financial aid. The process takes longer than what it should take.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
