The greek life appears superficial. I am not greek and it is hard for me to understand why I should be if I am not seeking any friendship. Some volunteer, some party, some are just eye-candy. Most of the greeks have a "High and Mighty" attitude, however it does depend on the fraternity/sorority. Most non-greeks aspire to be greek. If it suits your fancy, I suppose.

Alabama A&M's campus is unlike any other it is beautiful with unlimited potential. More effort only needs to be put into it. As well as people with the right intentions. We need more campus activities. The health and wellness center is a great addition to the hill. AAMU needs more grant money with is usually given to other schools instead, a sad truth.

Health & Safety:
Overall It is a safe place to be. The exeption comes because the Campus is too accessible to people who have intention of malice. The student apartments need to be closed and monitored and the dormitories should as well.

The buildings on campus, except two or three, are all old, unkempt, and drab. Missing ceilings, bad classrooms, scarce resources, and bathrooms that are always out of toilet paper and soap or paper towels.

The school is predominantly African American with no programs in place to diversify the campus. The administration is extremely lazy, which makes signing up/registering complete chaos. Many advisors at other colleges often tell you not to attend A&M because of problems well known in the area.

Some students seem into the athletics, but it's not that big of a deal to most.

There really isn't anywhere to eat besides the cafeteria. You must go off campus to eat.

At AAMU, the Food Science Program is pretty exciting as an undergraduate. Most of the professors enjoy getting to know new students and students who may come off as shy. There are a lot of events the Food Science Department is involved in and students can take part in it as well. Not to mention that you won't go hungry when you are apart of the Food Science Program. Moreover, there are numerous ways that you can gain experience and grow at AAMU. If you know what you want to do and don't want to do, you will eventually find something that suits your needs.

The AAMU academic setting is pretty good. The professors are available during their office hours, most of the times, to assist you with any matters that you may have. The workload is generally enough for you to stay occupied for a day or more. It depends on what class you are taking. Your curriculum will usually require you to take the four core courses being English, Math, Science (Chemistry, Biology, etc.) and History before you start taking classes related to your major. You will generally have to register for classes a month prior to the month the semester ends since some classes will fill up rapidly. If you need a convenient area to study, the Learning Resources Center (LRC) is very convenient, but depends on what time you go there. Unless you find somewhere else that is fine for you to study, your room is the next best alternative.

The computers at AAMU are pretty good. The computer labs don't become crowded too quick, but every now and then they will be. The network reliability operates at a decent pace for wired and wireless computers, but it depends on where you are on campus.

If you don't have a car there are not many places to visit for dining that are in walking distance. Best Wings is your best option.

The only campus provided transportation outside of campus, is a bus ride once on Saturdays to the mall.

Make sure that you have all of your ducks in a row before you enter the Financial Aid office. The counselors are helpful, but they can't do much if you haven't done your part.

I do plan on having an internship. AAMU has a Career and Development and Service program that will most definitely prepare you for a career.

AAMU is one of many HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges Universities); there is not much diversity when it comes to race. Needless to say we do have other races attend our school and they come from all over the country. We all come from different backgrounds.

Honestly, the campus is way too small for it to have transportation. walking from Foster all the way to the Wellness Center or Elmore gym doesn't even take an hour. it barely takes half an hour. but a lot of people on the campus are too lazy to walk. you spend more time waiting for a bus than actually walking to your destination. i don't think many people notice that. the worst time to try and ride the bus is during lunchtime. ALL of the buses be packed until around 2:00. another bad time to ride the bus is when it's raining. if you decide to come to Alabama A&M you'll see why. when it's raining EVERYBODY tries to ride the bus. the buses be filled up to the point that all the seats will be taken and the ones who couldn't get a seat will be taking up the space in the ailes. so just imagine trying to get off the bus with a bunch in the aisle. the only times i ride the bus is if it's empty or barely full. some times that transit system is a waste of money, then there are those few times that it'll come in handy.
College Sophomore 2013-07-12T04:39:57Z
The campus itself is very big and parking is therefore expanded to any who have vehicles. There is also buses to transport students to different locations on the campus. The only time the parking lots may become full is if there is a big event going on.

As long as you complete your financial tasks before you arrive to campus when starting a new semester, the financial process will go by smoothly and you can avoid waiting in lines.

Health & Safety:
Campus health&safety is very fortunate. Campus police are always alert and students are always informed quickly on any incidents that have happened. The campus is well taken care of as far as cleaning street ways and littering.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
