I can not grade campus housing at Alabama State University, due to the fact that i am renting a house off campus for my convenience.

Alabama State University is fairly strict when it comes to certain things.and i think that it is very good that they are that way.

the diversity at alabama state university is very good. they dont discriminate on who they let attend.they accept everyone.

the parking situation at Alabama State University is extremely high, because not only do they charge so many fees, now they want you to pay 100 a semester for a parking permit.i dint understand why they dont take it out the tuition.

The reconstruction project starts in summer after I graduate.

My program wasn't good in giving real situation to prepare for the job market. Our graphic design should have been more in depth in knowing the programs before I graduated.

The cafeteria is horrible. It was recently reviewed by the state board and their grade was a 74. There are rodents inside the facility and it is very unsanitary. In addition to this, the hours are very inconvenient and there is no flexibility for students who have late classes. Primarily speaking, if you miss dinner (after 6PM), you must find your own way of eating for the night, or you could buy food inside the union.

The drug scene is terrible. It is not hard to notice the students who frequently partake in drugs and alcohol at Alabama State University.

Public transportation at Alabama State is awful.. There is a city bus available to use, but it is very inconvenient. The buses run every 30 minutes, they do not run on Sundays, and you must ride several routes if you seek to shop at places that are not on the route. There is no flexibility with the public transportation system. For the most part, if you do not know anyone with a car, your experience with transportation is going to be very unfortunate. However, there are shuttles on campus, but for the most part they are unavailable to students.

There are computers available, but there are only a select few in the library and that can become very inconvenient at times

The weather is fine for the most part. We don't get snow. When it rains, a umbrella works for me to get to and from class. If it storms too bad, they cancel class for us.

Some days the café food is good. We recently found out that our school's café grade was a 74.

I've never had the luxury of using transportation on campus, but hearing reports from the people that I know it is good. The city bus is available to students as well at any time of the day.

The campus dining hall is the popular place on campus. The menus are rather large in quantity. The variety of food items are availiable to a degree depending on what you may feel like eating that day. The menu also reaches out to vegetarians as well.

The school's graduate program in counseling psychology is unique and hands-on. The program is intense and competitive on every aspect. The program is more than just class work and research papers, you do a lot of therapy/tape sessions to get an actual feel of what to expect in the field of counseling.

The student life on campus is an experience like no other. The student union is by far more appealing than any other school that I've ever seen. The lounge is spacious, functional, and a great place to mingle with other students. There's never a dull moment.

At times it seems as though no one knows what he or she is doing. You get the run around. You have all these nice new facilities and etc. but have the same old people doing the same old things......nothing. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it has been an awful experience. As bad as the sounds, Alabama State may benefit by being run by white people. Some of these people are arrogant yet incompetent. My thing is, if you don't like nor want your job, move on to something else and leave the attitude behind. Not all are like this, but many are. You can't tell them that they are wrong. You pretty much have to stand over them to get things done and ain't nobody got time for that. I am in my 30's and I need my degree. They have a long way to go administratively and they also have too many unnecessary fees.

Sometimes the food is good on certain days but after awhile you'll get tired of eating there everyday.

Parking can be okay on campus but you have to be sure to park in the correct spot or get a parking permit or else you will get booted. If you are not a faculty member and you're a student or a visitor you can only park in certain sections or dorms.

The campus police can be strict on students but it seems like students can get away with a lot if they are semi discreet about it.

The dining hall does have options but not very many because they serve the same type of food on a regular basis, not very much variety. There is especially not a big variety of fruits and vegetables. The food is not always of good quality but I do understand they have to cook for a lot of people. It would also be better if it stayed open later than 6:30 pm.

Health & Safety:
I would give the safety and security on campus this grade because it does not seem like we have very many officers on duty. I know we have officers on campus but when a fight breaks out it seems like it takes them awhile to get over to that area.

If you may know Montgomery is the home of the Civil Rights Movement. It is a city that helps African Americans fight for their rights. It holds a lot of history. There are a couple of places that are interesting if you want to just hang out with friends. The mall is one of my favorite spots I like to go to because I did it so much back home I'm addicted to it. I love baseball so I try to go see the Montgomery Biscuits when I get the chance.

There is not much to do here but me and others make the best out what we do. I'm not really a clubber I just like to enjoy myself. With that being said me and my friends try to go bowling or to the movies. Most of the time we are at the Air Force base playing basketball.

I choose Alabama State University because it was a last minute decision. Now that I'm here the professors I had were not like I expected them to be, instead they are more straight to the point and tough which seemed to amaze me. The registration process here was seemly slow but I can not blame them because of the incoming students we've had. There are many places that we can go to get work done on campus, so it is not an excuse on why your work is not getting done.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
