Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There really are a lot of places to eat off campus, even if you don’t have a car or don’t want to drive to Jackson or Marshall. Within walking distance, you can grab a burger or pizza at Cascarelli’s and Charlie’s. If you’re in the mood for Mexican, there’s Lopez Taco House. All of the places in downtown Albion have great prices and often specials for college students. Surprisingly, there’s even a Subway. Further into town, there’s Frosty Dan’s (a local favorite that’s a must for ice cream lovers), Arby’s, Burger King, KFC, and McDonald’s.

The places to go in Jackson and Marshall are all pretty standard, with a few exceptions. The One Fifteen Truck Stop in Marshall is open 24 hours, and it is a great place to go study if you have a car. Schuler’s, also in Marshall, might be the sole place to take your parents when they come for a visit. Its food and unique atmosphere are worth the higher prices. Finally, in Jackson, Los Tres Amigos has great Mexican food for a great price, if you can make the trip out there.

Not a Big Variety but Good Food

There are only a handfull of places to eat that aren't fast food. The two best places are La Casa and Cascarelli's. La Casa is a small Mexican restaurant with great prices and food. Cascarelli's is an Italian/pizza place with a bar. Prices are moderate and, again, the food is great.

Lacks Variety, but Is Cheap and Fun

Although Albion lacks variety, there are some solid options. As far as night life, you will never find cheaper drink prices. Though you won't have a lot options, there is nothing like going to a bar and knowing everyone there.

Charlie’s in downtown Albion is...

Charlie’s in downtown Albion is not bad for pizza and other finger foods. In Jackson, there is an Steak ‘n Shake, and great Mexican food at Los Tres Amigos. Ann Arbor has tons of great restaurants, but it is a bit further than Jackson and Battle Creek.
