For campus safety officials and RAs, Alfred University is a cake-walk. All they really ever have to do is shut us up after quiet hours and sweep our rooms for paraphernalia. Despite our best efforts, students are generally very well behaved on campus.

Regulations concerning substance abuse, theft, or assault are strictly enforced. Every other rule is bendable and easily lobbied in your favor. Got a parking ticket? Appeal it, or better yet, pay a visit to your friend the parking clerk. The great thing about having a campus that is so student-run is that you know plenty of people in beneficial places. Also, Alfred students just don’t go out of their way to break rules. There’s a nice ebb and flow of socially acceptable activity, and everyone on campus seems to be in the groove. After all, who can afford to be fined for throwing snowballs (it’s true!) when the price of school continues to skyrocket?

Campus Strictness?

Campus is most strict about probably underage drinking and drug use in campus dorms, which is completely understandable. Punishment isn't very bad until your third strike, which can lead to expulsion.

Strictness

You can get away with drinking in your room as long as you're not making noise. Depending on the RA you may just be told to do it elsewhere or you could be written up and get in trouble.

Dumb Public Safety

Noise complaints are enforced heavily. Even if you and your friends stay in for the night instead of running amuck around campus, if your neighbors complain, public safety busts in your dorm. There have been a few times when there was no complaint, but they heard the word "Beer" and decided to stop in and see what was up. Violation of freedom of speech. college students say "beer" all the time, it doesn't mean they're consuming it at the point in conversation.
