I'm Happy With My Choice – I'm happy that I made the choice to stay at Hancock rather than transfer to a university right out of High School. Staying at home has made it difficult to stay true to school though, due to all the distractions. I have dropped many courses, and I believe it's because of my decision to stay. I feel I've learned a lot and grown quite a bit since high school, and when I do choose to transfer I will truly be ready. I have heard stories of other community colleges, and I'm sure my school is superior to most.

Works Around My Schedule – As a working, single mother it's great to find a schedule that can work around my hectic life. A few morning classes and one night class gives me the ability to be available to work a full shift at work and still attend school. The availability of online classes also allows me to see my daughter and still have some quality time with her. The only reason the grade isn't an A+ is because I've never attended another college, and therefore have to way of comparing it to any other college environment.

No Clue – I haven't heard of my school offering any of these services.

In Class Is Better – I feel that taking classes that aren't online are better at this college. If you have an issue with an online class it is often times very difficult to get in contact with the professor. It is also much more complicated because you have to check multiple sections of blackboard to make sure that you have completed all of your assignments.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
It is a community college so it is not very expensive to attend compared to other schools. The financial aid system is very confusing and is not very well explained. When you ask for help in the office they just tell you that you have to go online and do it. You basically have to do it yourself to get the financial aid but the school isn't overly expensive so if you can't figure it out it's still affordable.

Use the Online – My school's online program impressed me quite a bit. It allows a student to take one or two online classes to alleviate time management for the classes they are enrolled in classrooms. Grades are easily accessable, and the teachers are easy to contact.

Club Managerie – My school has a variety of clubs for just about everyone. The people in these clubs are all very warm individuals who will know you by name after only a single meeting. Student clubs like the one at my school help make connections with many interesting people.

Learning Made Easy – Being a freshman, I've yet to experience a diversity in teachers. So far, all have been very polite, intelligible, understanding professors that make learning simplistic enough to fully comprehend the subjects. Many aim to help their students understand how a certain formula works, or how vibrant colors can enhance the focus on an art piece for an upcoming project. They fully involve students in exercises and offer varying learning methods to help each and everyone in the classroom reach what they strive to understand.

Health Help on Campus – I appreciate that Allan Hancock College brings in nurses and doctors from Planned Parenthood to provide STD and HIV testing and birth control options to the student body. I started my period at an early age, and after year of having it, it had become increasingly irregular. I learned that birth control pills would help regulation, so I considered starting the method. However, it was difficult for me to go to a doctor's office or to a Planned Parenthood location in town because of my parent's restrictions in going out on my own. When I found out about the provided services on campus, I scheduled an appointment to pick up my birth control. Since then, my period has been regulated and I am leading a less stressful life knowing that my body is functioning as it should be.

Another Stepping Stone – The school is a means to an end. I went there to get my general education done quickly and cheaply and accomplished just that. With any school, the amount you get out of it depends on the amount you put into it, so if you are just jamming through the work your experience may not be that pleasant. But over all this school does its job.

How Is Hancock Unique? Unique qualities that set Allan Hancock College apart from other schools include the high student and staff involvement in school functions and government, high quality learning and tutorial facilities which include English, math, and science, a high quality Learning Assistance Program for students with disabilities, and many opportunities for students with families which include child care, financial assistance and counseling, and family related programs. The students and staff at Allan Hancock College are very social compared to many community colleges that I have visited where many students and staff keep to themselves outside of the classroom. For an example, I have gotten to know many of my teachers and they are very supportive of me outside of the classroom. I am going through rough times dealing with my father's health and money issues. My teachers and the friends that I have made are very supportive and always do their best to communicate with me as much as possible in case I need their help with life such as counseling and other assistance searching.

Overall Expereince – My overall experience at Allan Hancock has been a very positive and productive one. Allan Hancock has a very proactive student body that encourages all the students to participate in different school functions. Compared to other community colleges that I have visited, Allan Hancock is very welcoming and is full of many determined students pursuing their desired majors. Allan Hancock offers very high quality support programs for students who struggle with studying or in different classes which include individual tutoring, state of the art math center full of qualified math tutors and student tutors, state of the art reading and writing center full of top-quality computers, and English tutors who help students in more than just their English course. What I am very appreciative of is the Learning Assistance Program offered at Allan Hancock. The Learning Assistance Program is very supportive of students who have learning disabilities and other disabilities that affects their lives. Through this program students are given extra learning support which includes audible text books, extension and supervision of exams, specialized equipment and other services. What makes my school unique is the fact that students and staff are not make distance between each other, there are many educational programs and community programs offered to students that help them excel in school and in life, and the school is a fairly safe environment compared to the whole city that it is in. I would choose this school again if I could do it all over again because I feel safe at school, and I am very confident in my success with the variety of classes offered at the school, and the variety of different programs sponsored by the school.

Computers on Campus – Well we sometimes require a computer but some people don't have computer access at home but the college provides them in the writing center, library, computer lab, almost everywhere on campus and its very helpful to finish homework or to work on homework with the programs they offer on the computers. Also we have printer and copy machines, plus textbooks of classes just in case you forgot your book or you can't afford one you can use the libraries.

Our professors are good at there work and on giving us enough time to finish our homework or studying for exams, and giving us as much help as they can by offering their hours of spare time so we can go ask for questions etc..
