With the help of the staff in CAN (College Achievement Now), my experience has been wonderful. They provide so much support and so many resources like free printing, mentoring, hour-long academic advising, fun trips, guest speakers, and very helpful workshops!

This campus is diverse in every way; politically, ethnically, sexually and economically. Many older folks are coming back to school and that diversity also enhances the learning experience

Research the courses available ahead of time so upon your registration period you already know which classes, which professors and which time and days you want. Looking up professor ratings helps but rather talk to peers and ask around, it usually helps!

AHC has a lot of academic programs for science based majors. I am not a science major so I do not benefit from these programs. There are not any other programs that I am aware of.

The classes offered at AHC are flexible but they do not offer many of the classes I, and fellow students, need to transfer. The classes I need are only offered online and I, like many others, do not do well in an online class setup. Many of my fellow students have to attend other community colleges as well as AHC just to meet transfer credits. AHC has so many helpful programs available, but they do not bring them to the student populations attention.

I'm a Sociology major and just building rapport with professors can go a long way. One of my professors offered extra credit for a volunteer opportunity and I still volunteer there even after that semester course was over. I also received a textbook copy and a friendly offer of writing me a recommendation letter in the future when needed. The school has many clubs and more than a few of them offer volunteer work and opportunities to address issues in the community.

The professors are very knowledgeable and are always available at their established office hours. The school has a variety of programs ranging from Film to Automotive to Nursing to Early Childhood Studies to Fine Arts and everything in between. The class registration process can be a hassle but as long as the students do their research a week or two in advance and/or seek counseling prior then their only worry will the possibility of being waitlisted. Its better to be prepared with a few back up plans and getting things ready beforehand helps with the stress of a bad registration turn.

It's really different then the other school I went to. They are not that understanding when it comes to personal problems. And you half to work harder to live up to their expectations.

The computers at my school is really slow, the Internet connection is really horrible. And you half to pay the computer lab to print out school work and home work, and it is to help us get our selfs educated. And to get us through our classes so we could get and make more money.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The education, It's way too expensive. Books enrollment fees, and every thing like that I'm paying the school to better my life. I Do not have money to pay the school to get a career, so I could make more and better money.

Online courses are easy and convenient. I am a hands on learner so sometimes I prefer to be in the classroom and have other students that I can talk to.

I enjoy the exercise classes but there are very few to choose from and the times don't correlate with my schedule during the semester.

I signed up for the writing center and I was supposed to be able to print out notes that are required by my classes but there is this lady that walks around and gets mad at people for printing out too many pages. I pay for the class and so I should be able to print out as many pages as I need to.

Allan Hancock college is a great community college because it has a nursing program, a medical assistant program, a police and fire academy, and an EMT academy. There is also culinary arts and the very well known PCPA theater. I have really enjoyed attending Allan Hancock College and I feel that the nursing program that I am in right now is very up to date and cutting edge. The instructors are very friendly and have a lot of experience to share with the class.

no place is perfect but many improvements are being made as we speak . i particularly like the fact that there is child care . my son is 21 though and we attend together. there is plenty of space to work out side in the quite. and lots of people that are anxiours to help you. EOPS helps with couselors and books. financial aide is always avail to answer any question. the only thing i could want more of is parking some mornings you can be late if you are off by 5 minutes. everthing else has been a great exerience for me and i am a 49 year old lady returning , even the students are cool with me. i love it here!

The computer network is great. It is fast and I have not had any problems with any part of the network. The computer lab is great too. It is nice to have your own computer but it is not a need. It is a great resource at the college.

I am in the Fire TEC program and it is a blast. The work load is not so bad. I am able to go to the fire stations and meet fire fighters that help with the projects. The curriculum covers so much .I am learning many aspects of the career.
