There are great late night activities for non-drinkers and tons of bars in town within walking distance and there are shuttles that take them there.

My school is not diverse and everyone is touchy about the subject. The food, academics and housing are all wonderful though!

Most people can get away with certain things like underage drinking etc, but academically the Honor Code is taken very seriously and if you get caught not abiding by the rules there are consequences.

I don't really know about the use of drugs on campus, although I do know it happens. It's college, so a lot of people drink. I don't but that doesn't make me feel left out.

There are a lot of chain restaurants that are cheap and some even deliver to campus. There are also some nice places that aren't chain, but some of them are a little expensive.

There is often something good at Brooks be it the main dish or a bowl of cereal. Although, I would avoid the chicken, as some meats there don't seem to be cooked thoroughly. McKin's is usually pretty good and you can order a variety of things there.

The campus is beautiful with its architecture, but many of the buildings are old and you can tell when you're in them. The science buildings are definitely newer and the campus center is a great place to hang out. The library is also a great place to go, although if you actually want to study there it's best to get a cubicle in the basement or 2nd floor, as the 1st floor isn't always quiet.

There isn't a whole lot of diversity as most people are from the surrounding PA area, which is primarily Caucasian. There are a decent amount of international students and students with various religious beliefs though.

The Greek Life is pretty good. Fraternities have their own houses, but Sororities don't. There are a ton of different people with their own interests in all of Greek Life on campus, so it's pretty easy to find a place where you fit in. Overall, I didn't really think I would go Greek, but after I did, I am glad to be a part of so many people's lives.

Guys & Girls:
Everyone is different, so no matter what you will be able to find somewhere you fit. It does seem that many people are in the higher class here, but it doesn't really bother me much.

All Allegheny students are required to live on campus.

It rains a lot, but I am from Western PA so the weather here is pretty similar (maybe a little colder and wetter).

Health & Safety:
I am a small, female and have never really felt unsafe on campus at night. If you ever need anything, all you have to do is call security and they will help you.

You don't have to apply to be in any specific program at Allegheny.

I have never had an internship although I am open to finding one dealing in medicine to get the experience.

Lots of people are Biology majors here, but the department is great although it is tough. The faculty are always willing to help even with the workload.
College Sophomore 2013-11-05T02:51:56Z
The academic courses are often rigorous with a heavy course load, but most professors are more than willing to assist you with problems (just go to their office hours).
College Sophomore 2013-11-05T02:47:53Z
The locals like students, but there isn't much to do within walking distance of campus. If you have a car, then you can drive to the Grove City Outlets and other attractions.
College Sophomore 2013-11-05T02:45:40Z
There are a decent amount of labs on campus. The network is often good, although it can be slow at times. The only printers on campus that print in color are on the 1st floor of the library.

The workload is certainly large but its college! Allegheny definitely prepares you for life after college!
College Student 2013-10-29T20:56:51Z
I love the political science department! Most people come in as a science major and a lot of focus is put there but the humanities and social sciences are equally as good!
College Student 2013-10-29T20:55:03Z
This place definitely changes lives.

We are extremely lucky to have Parkhurst! They are a great company that tries very hard to use quality food! There are two dinning halls, Brooks and McKinley's. Brooks is cafeteria style and Mckins is a customized style
College Student 2013-10-29T20:51:56Z
Really depends on what you do! The school is small but they recognize its college and people are going to mess up
College Student 2013-10-29T20:50:27Z
All depends on where you go!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
