Gay Pride
There is a small gay community on campus, and there are a couple of student groups to support them-Allegheny Gay Pride (AGP) and Pride Alliance. Allegheny also has a special-interest house that functions as a "Safe Zone." The College is very accepting of its gay population, although it seems like there are always a few students who are intolerant bigots (it's certainly not the majority, though).
Political Activity
A majority of the student population would probably be classified as liberal, although there is a strong conservative population, as well. While most students have strong political views, only a small group is really outspoken. In general, it seems like campus is politically minded, but not necessarily politically active.
Economic Status
Students come from a wide variety of economic backgrounds (although the College does seem to be predominantly upper-middle class).
Most Common Religions
Most students are Christian, although many religions are practiced on campus. There are also several religious groups and special-interest houses, like the Hillel House, the Faith and Justice House, and the Lighthouse.
Minority Clubs on Campus
There are several minority groups on campus for African Americans (ABC), Asians (A5), and Latinos (Unión Latina). There are also groups on campus that support diversity in general (like the International House).
