In Meadville, the weather is a veritable kaleidoscope of extremes. Most of the time, it’s icy, cold, and constantly snowing. However, when it does warm up, it can get muggy and really hot. The plus side of these extremes is that when it is nice, it’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s almost impossible to plan for the weather because it can change so quickly. For people who love winter and snow, Meadville is perfect. It is basically winter for half of the year. It snows almost everyday during that time, but a lot of the time, the sky is still blue, and the sun is out. Bring all kinds of clothing, though, because there are always those random days in February between snowstorms when everything melts, and it’s suddenly 65 degrees out and everyone wears shorts.
All of the seasons in Meadville have their positive and negative aspects. Winter can be miserably cold, but it also provides the opportunity to go sled riding or even ski to class, which can be fun. The fall can be rainy, but there are so many trees that turn such pretty colors that it kind of makes up for it. Spring is rainy and muddy, but if you’re creative, even the mud can be fun. Summer, which most students never see, can be hot and muggy, but it happens so rarely that most people that are still on campus don’t complain and take the opportunity to catch some rays while they can. Even if you don’t like one of the seasons, everything changes so fast that the variety will keep things interesting.
