Tips to Succeed
- Do your reading and other homework.
- Don't be afraid to ask for help. Teachers are so cool about setting up times to meet with students to go over materials or concepts. Tutors are also really helpful and accessible to all students.
- If you can't get your homework completely done, always come to class with something. Something is better than nothing, and something is also better than excuses. Teachers will be more understanding.
- If you live in the dorms, don't let all the drama get you down.
- Remember: Taking breaks from school is important.
- Take advantage of the time management classes and tutors offered at Alverno. If you are struggling with something, there are all kinds of people and services there to help—so use them.
- Talk to your professors and don't be afraid to tell them what is going on in your life if your assessment was really bad or you haven't made it to class in a couple days.
Did You Know?
- Alverno has an ability-based program that does not rely solely on multiple choice tests but rather on group projects and presentations.
- Some classes can be taken at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee if they are not offered at Alverno. Mount Mary is something of a sister school to Alverno.
