Safety and Security personnel are willing to do whatever they need to to keep the students safe on campus. And being an all-women's college, safety is extremely important. The Alverno campus is quite compact and extremely well lit, so there really aren't many unsafe, hidden, dark places. However, if a student feels uncomfortable walking anywhere on campus, security officers do offer escorts. This is especially nice for students who have late classes, some that end at 10 p.m., and have parked in the parking structure. Security also has quite a presence on campus, and you'll regularly see officers as they make their rounds through each building during their shifts. They also make rounds through the dorms, but not as frequently as the rest of campus, which is nice because resident students have more privacy.
Another typical activity you'll see safety officers doing is helping students who lock themselves out of their rooms. From midnight until 8 a.m., an officer staffs Austin Hall's front desk. The security officers at Alverno are also easy to approach and personable.
