Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The Milwaukee area has a large amount of bars and clubs, so some place is almost always hopping. The city has everything from a gothic scene at Club Anything to a little bit of Ireland at Mo’s Irish Pub, which also serves food with its spirits. There isn’t a huge rave scene in Milwaukee, but there are places to go dancing and have a good time.

Milwaukee is also home to several comedy clubs. Comedy Sportz is similar to "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" and offers a wide variety of shows during the day and night. It is cheap entertainment, with most shows costing around $5, which is great for students on budgets. Also, they have midnight shows every Saturday night dubbed the “Adult Show,” where the comedy becomes more risqué. Like many other aspects of Milwaukee, if you want a specific type of nightlife, the city probably has it.

Quick and Easy

Many times during the week Alverno hosts a variety of activities in the basement of one of the dorms called The Mug. The activities include anything from bands performing to comedy shows. It gives those who live on campus a chance to enjoy nightlife without paying for it or having to leave the grounds.

A Life Away from Campus

The night life near campus is not too exciting, you live near 27th st which has many stores and dining places as well as coffee shops and fast food. The bad part of this is most of these things close by 10 or 11. If you are 21 there are so many things to do in the city about 15-20 minuets away from campus just not near by. If you are under 21 there are plenty of things to do near and not near campus; movie theater, bowling, coffee shops, stores, hookah bars, arcades, gyms, etc. Overall if you are will to travel a bit then you will always find something to do in the city.

There Is No Nightlife at Alverno.

There is not much going on at Alverno. Campus is pretty residential and they are the 2nd quietest dorms in the nation. Pretty rigid rules. If you want nightlife, head down to the Eastside by the University Wisconsin Milwaukee campus.
