Milwaukee has an array of restaurants, and if there is something you are craving, you will find it. Because Milwaukee is a dairy state, there are lots of custard or ice cream shops. Milwaukee also has its share of classic American food, like hamburgers, steaks, and fries. However, there are all kinds of ethnic restaurants ranging from Indian to Mexican to Thai. Wherever you are in Milwaukee, you will find a great place to eat, and sometimes the best places to eat at are small hole-in-the-wall spots. Milwaukee, like every other city in the United States, has its share of fast food restaurants and chain restaurants.

Alverno students eat a lot on 27th Street because it is so close to campus, and the food is relatively cheap and easy to grab between classes or with friends on weekends. A lot of students eat off campus to either supplement their meal plans or just to get something out of the norm. However, there are also expensive, top-of-the-line restaurants for a special night out, as well. There is a good mix of foods, restaurants, and price ranges all over the city. If you want it, it is somewhere out there.
