I have been enrolled with AIU since march of 2010 I will graduate with my A.A. Business with a concentration in Information Sytems in sept of 2011. In November I will begin my BIT with the same school. Being a 40 something and returning to school after so many years could have been much harder if not for all the wonderful people working at my school. My emails are responded to promptly and phone calls returned fast. All aspects of this experience have very good and would not change anything.

Helping With a Job After Graduation – I have been talking with an advisor to help me prepare for a career after I am finished. The school offers a wide variety of assistance in this matter.

Professors Are Slow Responding Back to Students – The professors inform all students that they are there if you need them, but when that time arises, it is super hard to contact them. They are usually not clear about the question you ask once you finally get through to them. Then you have to respond back to their unclear email, which takes another couple of days to receive. By this time it is time to turn the assignment in. This is just one of the issues I have found trying to contact the Professors.

Great Programming Environment – I'm learning some new stuff but I've been in the IT field for 30+ years and sometimes I feel I know more than some of my teachers.

Online Vs Traditional – online classes vs traditonal is a interesting comparison. some of the few differences are that the classes are based online and not thru a classroom, the classes are self taught in the respect that that you learn from books and not the professor. traditional is very time consuming and the online isnt, you can work at your own pace.

AIU Rates at the Top of the List – AIU Online is an excellent online school, my experience in the last 10 months has been outstanding. From the class schedule to the professor, to the ability to get around the virtual campus has been awesome. AIU Online gives every student the resources they need to be successful. These include an online library, e-books rather than physical books, online chat sessions, tutoring, learning labs and the communication is phenominal.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
I am extremely satified with the financial aid department at AIU Online. They handle all of the paperwork and stay on top of deadlines and correspond regularly with students. I am extremely pleased with the resources that AIU offers to their students for them to succeed.

Unique Peer Interaction – You would think that there would be no way you could have personal interaction with online students scattered all over the continental United States. However, most classes have not only the Individual Projects due each week, and the Discussion Board project each week where there is some student interaction, but also one week a Group Project is required instead of the individual project. The Group is usually a small group of 5 or 6 students picked at random by the instructor to do the group project, but some instructors offer the option of picking your group from your class roster, if you should know some of them. Each student is given the option of "friending" students so they can keep in touch throughout the school experience. I have made some lovely friends in this way. We IM often.

Time Flexibility – This is the best experience I have ever had with school. I can do my work around my work and home schedule and still get everything done. There are, of course, deadlines for assignments but even then some can be turned in late with a minimal drop in grade. If I schedule my priorities and my time wisely, I have no problem getting the work done by the deadline of midnight Sunday each week. I have found the teachers are often available for instant messaging (IM) whenever I need to ask a question. What conventional instructor is available 24/7 at a traditional school? Precious few. This online school is a wonderful learning experience.

Visual Design Instructors – All the visual design instructors I have had so far are creative and intelligent and helpful. The live chat each week is so informative and interactive. Although it is not required to show up for the live chat, it is so helpful when you do, because you can ask the instructors questions and have the rest of the students present interact as well. The live chats are archived for anyone to see later or for you to review again later in the week. The slide shows and assignments are great. Each assignment stretches you and teaches you something new about the course elements. I have loved it so far.

Career Center Quality – I still have a few years before I graduate because I am taking my BBA upon completion of my AABA but the Career Services are already contacting me to start preparing to help me get ready to go into the professional world. The services offered are excellent. The job prospects are always there and they do what they can to place us there.

Flexibility of Classes – The flexibility of the ability to get into my classroom online has been awesome and very understandable. I have not any hassles or been frustrated with not being able to get into my classes. If their is a problem it is responded to immediately. The ease of transferring credits is not an experience I have had . The school is excellent.

I am a business major and the classes are direct and to the point in the field of my major. The class expectations are all about business. The materials and resources are intellectual and are very understandable. They offer an internship program and the career services are excellent. I am always very busy writing essays and that is wonderful for the way of communication in the business field. The workload is very intellect and not a stressful situation. The staff are all very helpful and quick to respond to any situation yoi have.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Friendly and Helpful – Financial aid is friendly and helpful but I would prefer if they could guide you in the direction of a few scholarships or grants other than FAFSA.

Helpful Resources Readily Available – The library is great for researching and has a great amount of scholastic articles readily available. Student advising is great, the tech team is available 24/7 and overall, there is aways someone to contact when there are questions or problems with anything. As it is an online college, there are no athletic centers etc. but I love the school!

Working with the faculty in each class can be challenging. The good thing is it is all recorded for you to listen to your instructor if you can't make the time of your live chat. The bad thing is you can't ask questions if the time is not convenient for you.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
