Our Own Melting Pot – The student body at AMDA is extremely diverse. We not only have students from all over America, but also from different countries. Many people are very accepting and we are competitive in a healthy, encouraging way. You will discover your boundaries you put on yourself are much tighter than your actual potential and your teachers as well as fellow students will help you discover this.

AMDA does not offer any online courses. If you opt out of a Gen-Ed course to take a performance course you can take it online through a different university or community college. Most of the classes are performance based and so online courses will only hinder you as a performer.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Keep on Top of Your Finances – Financial Aid has been a department that you have to keep up with at AMDA. There are currently two people that handle all the students so as you can imagine they are very busy. They do give you payment options, or if you pay the tuition in full you can receive a small discount. Starting in the summer semester will also give you a discount. The education I am getting is well worth every penny I pay. A lot of what you get out of this school is what you put into it. It is very important to make sure that this is what you want to do.

Be Nice to EVERYONE – AMDA does not necessarily help you find work after graduation, but you do make major networking connections with faculty at the school. If a faculty member likes your work and worth ethic they are likely to consider you when you audition for them. This same principle applies with fellow students. Someone might audition and book a job that the director needs more people for. If you are friends with this person, you could potentially book the job with them. As long as you go to auditions after graduation most alumni find work.

Possibly the Best Decision of My Life – AMDA has been the best decision for me, as a performer. We are surrounded by fabulous faculty that are still working today! All the knowledge we are getting is current to the business now and very professional. Classes are fairly flexible depending on the program you are in. As a BFA student, I am able to get my work done and have some free time as well. Our cafe has to be the best of any school around. We have a professional chef that prepares everything fresh and the possibilities are endless. If you are serious about performing and want a safe, but real environment to do so then AMDA is the school for you!

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Baring With the Students – They are well with the process, and they try their best to make everything work for them as well as the students. Take me for example, I have Government Funds but still have a remaining balance that needs to be paid. I work the weekends and I'm constantly filling out scholarships hoping that I'll get something, at least until my parents figure things out.

The American Musical & Dramatic Academy has provided me with the tools as a performer, to take out into the world. Everything There after is up to us, simply because they lay everything out for the students so that our experience there is as productive and constructive as possible. The Faculty and the Administrators are always welcoming us with open arms, they sit with the students to fulfill the needs of the student no matter the circumstance. I believe that this is the right school for me. I have no complaints nor do I see any in my path as a student at the American Musical & Dramatic Academy.

Resources at AMDA – One of the many great aspects of AMDA life is the ease of access you have to everyday resources needed. Whether it be pencil and paper, food, or internet connection, AMDA offers all of these luxuries and more within the school and walking distance. There is a renowned library with computers and books available to help with all of your needs, as well as assistants to help out with any questions you may have.

AMDA: Where Dreams Come True! From what I know so far, the academics offered are vast and many in number. They offer several different artistic programs, that pretty much cover all of the aspects of the art world. The staff that I have met are genuine and very helpful, as are the programs offered.

Job Prospects Are Out of This World – The faculty at AMDA consists of the cream of the crop - top performers, directors, choreographers, artists, etc. in the performing arts industry. All of my teachers are still active in the arts community. I even had a handful of Tony-nominated actors training me to be the best I can be. That's why it's very critical that you stay on their good side, because someday they could be in the position to give you a job. AMDA receives phone calls all the time from casting directors, producers and agents asking for casting suggestions for their shows, and you definitely want to be one of the people they suggest. Keep a good reputation, and you could be working alongside your former instructors on camera or the stage. AMDA also has the top performing arts library in the country, with an impressive catalogue consisting of musicals/plays that most people have never heard of. So when you walk into an audition and perform 16 bars of a song that nobody behind that white table has ever heard of, well, that gives you major brownie points (especially since they've heard about a million renditions of "On My Own" from Les Miserables). You can always consult the AMDA library for new and fresh material so you can nail those auditions and walk away with a job. Fantastic, right?

Welcome to the Diverse World of the Arts – AMDA has some of the most diverse students you will ever find. That may read like an overexaggeration, but I'm completely serious. I grew up in a small town in Ohio - I even lived on a farm. So imagine the culture shock I experienced when I moved to New York City where 10 million people reside to study musical theatre. Wow! Fortunately, the majority of the student body attending AMDA harbored the same feelings as yours truly. We had students from all over the world - from every culture, race, religious background, sexual orientation, political preference, etc. We probably had some of the most open-minded people in the globe training to be performers. It was absolutely magnificent.

In the Hearts of Broadway and Hollywood. One of the many things that sets the American Musical and Dramatic Academy apart from other performing arts institutions is their prime locations. Yes, I said "locations". There are two campuses: one located in the heart of Manhattan, where Broadway rules the scene; the other situated comfortably amidst the bright lights of Los Angeles, where Hollywood takes over. Having two campuses in the two performing arts capitals of the world really has its advantages: one being that you typically get student discounts for every kind of concert, musical, play, movie feature or any performing arts-related event under the sun. If there's one thing that AMDA heavily impresses upon their students (besides the importance of professionalism), it's the power of observation - seeing art live and breathe under imaginary circumstances, watching it come to life and learning from what you've witnessed. Then, you take that experience and apply it to YOUR work. It's a beautiful thing, and definitely the best way to learn from the best in the business.

We Need a Cafeteria – The classrooms and performing studios are nice but we could possibly use more dance studios. There is a definite need for a fitness facility on campus as well as a swimming pool. The most needed facility is a cafeteria where students can meet and socialize with their classmates. I really missed that aspect that I had in high school.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
They Lend a Helping Hand – I've been very fortunate to have been awarded a national scholarship as well as qualifying for several grants, but not having a meal plan can be quite burdensome. This also adds to unnecessary pressure on the student's performance always worrying about having to spend extra money on food.

Your successfulness in getting work is completely up to you and how well you know how to network. Knowing the teachers and them liking you helps because you have someone connected to the inside and someone of experience to recommend you.

There are so many different people it is refreshing. I never feel out of place. Everyone's so friendly and easy to understand no matter how odd, and everyone is a little odd. It's just me that is scared to communicate and make more friends.

AMDA was definitely not what I expected. I was thinking something glamorous but as I got to know New York I realized how that was to think. Living in the area is expensive and the campus in New York does not have a meal plan, but the things they don't have they make up with the weight of the excellent knwledge you get from their above average staff.

Atleast They Care – My teachers are always there to make sure their students improve. Whenever I need help they always try to arrange a tutoring session with me along with other students who need help. I defintly appreciate their help very much.
