Tuition & Financial Aid:
The financial aid process is very confusing and the financial aid department does not keep you informed of the status of your funding, or explain how to pay tuition if you plan to pay partially with financial aid money and partially with other funds. They are slow to respond to e-mailed questions, and do not provide clear, concise answers.

APU was the only online school that offers a Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Studies completely online. All other schools I researched required at least one-half of the courses to be attended on campus.

The students in my classrooms have been from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds, as well as geographic locations. From various discussions held in the forums, it is clear there are diverse religious beliefs and affiliations, economic backgrounds, and political ideals.

Because American Public University is an online school, everything is done through computer. They use Sakai, which does not communicate well with
Microsoft programs. After some training, it becomes easier, but there is a time limit for online access to classes and, for example, if you do not save your work and post in a forum, you may be timed out and lose all your work. Watching the tutorials is VERY important.

The online library is not very user friendly. It took me about three or four tries to understand how to find course guide books, and the software used does not always work well on my computer, which can be very frustrating.

weekly forums and discussion. Instructors are always available and there are chat forums for general questions that all students can assist each other with.

I have had no issues with logging in or using any of the materials online. The campus is very good about communicating times when they will be upgrading or working on the systems.

I am giving an A because overall the benefits have far out-weighed the problems. I am now three months from graduating with my bachelor degree and am looking forward to starting a master degree at another school. The flexibility, promptness in responses and communication from teachers, students, and the help services, has been highly helpful to me. I have really appreciated my experience with APUS.

While it has not been perfect such as at times when I was having trouble figuring out the software or the websites that further complicated an otherwise easy assignment, I have had an overall awesome experience with this school because it has enabled me to get done what I need to while still holding a schedule with the other things that take priorities in my life. Once you understand the software and websites that are affiliated, it all works out. My favorite part is the Student Services which are available by email any time of the week. They are pretty quick to respond with assignment help or technical problems and have nine times out of ten helped me solve my such problems. Also, there is an online tutoring service that I have never used but might sometime just to try it out.

AMU offers so many classes that are military driven. I really like abnormal psych and have the opportunity to take a wide range of psych classes that are not offered at other colleges. Ex. Psychology of Terrorism, Psychology of Combact, etc.

The professors are amazing at this school. They really make the online experience great. They respond in a timely manner and are always focused and willing to assist students.

This college is perfect for those who work, have families or who are serving in the military and cannot attend a regular classroom setting. It allows students the flexibility to learn and work on courses while still maintaining thier employment, family duties, or military service. The instructors are excellent; being helpful and giving one to one guidance when needed. The forum settings allow the students online to become familar with their classmates in a structured social setting. Through this ability I have found that my knowledge on a subject is increased by the different views and additional information brought to the forums by my fellow students. The staff is helpful and diligent in assisting students. Overall it is a wonderful online university.

Apus never threw me under the rug. They will take care of any problems or issues that I have with the best and quickest response possible. The career center focuses on the students or future students and highly encourages the need to take college courses. The path to your goal is laid out for you as you talk to your counselors and the academic plans are created for that individual. I can not find any negatives about this school.

MY college is filled with diversity student from all over the world. It serves military members so a lot of peers I have meet are serving in the military or are retired. I have met some peers who have no affilation with the military at all. Diversity is accepted at my college and I love learning and getting to know new peers.

I enjoy taking online classes because I can access my campus where ever I have internet. I love that I am able to travel and still keep on with my assignments.I have never have to file for an extention so I think that tells you that the workload is never too much. The peer to peer action in the class envolve messaging back and forward through email or on the discussion boards.

I have not had any serious problems with the school. Everything is laid out nicely and the ecampus is easier to access

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Classes here are so much cheaper than at a traditional 4 year university. I can get scholarships, loans, and even an employee voucher program to work at this school. Financial aid peole are generally very helpful. The financial aid website has everything that you need to know.

While we don't actually have a physical place to hang out, everyone is very friendly to eachother. I have "friended" some of my classmates on social media sites. We are all accepting of others. We are all spread out across the globe so we get to learn a lot about other cultures and people.

There is an online library that rivals on campus libraries. There are search engines that you would have to pay for, but since I am a student I get to use them for free. There are online student organizations which are a great break from studying. While there aren't any physical student centers, the online environment is very inviting.

The professors are very involved with students as along as the students want to interact with the professor. Classes are easy to sign up for and taking the actual class is a wonderful experience. I have never had an issue that I remember, but if I did, I am sure the staff was very accomodating. Classes are very fast paced (8 weeks or 16 weeks) so it does require some time to set aside, but once you get into a routine it is very easy to keep up and excell in the classes. There is a website for students to connect with others (online student organizations) and there are constantly updates about internships, grants and study abroad opportunities on the main site. If you need a course extension, the policy and process to obtain the extension is easy to get, and sometimes professors will actually give extensions to the entire class because they feel it is necessary. My classes are very relevant to what I want to do and I am very eager to graduate. There is also a graduation ceremony too! The university confers degrees 4 times a year.

When i decided to leave my 4 year university and go to online learning I was a little nervous. When I saw that over half of my credits transfered I was thrilled! Tuition is SO much cheaper and the professors really make you feel like you are important instead of just another name on the internet. If you need a course extension, it is easy to apply for one, but most professors are very accomodating to everyones situations.
College Junior 2012-10-21T17:26:51Z
The registration process was very easy all you have to do is sign in to the school and go to registration and pick the classes you want. With traditional schools you have to go in and speak with a counselor to enroll in classes. I found it very easy to speak with my counselor and to get any help that I needed. The professors were great their feedback was always very constructive along with the other students.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
