Myy major is Electrical engineering. There are ample amount of hands-on practices but lack of the emphasis of theory. I wish teachers can be more theory-centered when giving instructions/lectures.

Some professors are really into teaching and playing a very fair policy rules. However, there are quite a few still make students confused. Simply because they do not offer a clear guide line or lack of study guide. Class registration is a little bit nasty, as some students have early regisstration date and this really screw things up. The lucky ones get to take the same class more than two time, while others can't even enroll for once.

I have always found a computer when I needed. The network has never had any problems so far. There are several computer labs, for example, in the science building you are allowed to print for free if it is homework related to a science class. Usually a professor will give you a pass. There are several computers at LRC, everywhere copies or prints are 10 cents. I wish they were cheaper, we are students and they should not be making money off our copies.

ARC has the best tutoring programs, we have MESA, we have LRC, and students center, and several tutoring groups.MESA is a students center with so many activities, but its only for students with financial aid. LRC is equipped with an award winner peer tutoring program called Beacon, each week students from one class get together with one tutor-usually a student that took that class and got an A or B- and study together, professor offer extra credit if you join this group. There is a resource center with more tutors for science. We have RAD, reading across the disciplines and WAS, writing accross the disciplines, which are programs that help you to write and read essays, homework, even resumes to apply for jobs!

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The staff at financial aid try their best and are very polite but I do not qualify for financial aid. I desperately need financial aid, I cannot afford books, and other materials and this is why I give a C+ for financial aid.
American River College has awesome professors, I love this school, I believe the education I am receiving will help me improve in my life. Moreover the tuition is high but thankfully I got a waiver this semester for my high GPA, so I cannot complain.

I took an online class, I found it to be easier than in class sessions because I can just go online in my pijamas and do the homework I need and take the class I need without the hassle of commuting and finding a parking spot. This last one -finding a parking spot- is the most stressful thing that happened to me in American River College. Online classes are pretty straight forward and the professors I had replied to emails fairly fast. The workload seem average, one of the unique features are taking exams online, professors try to make them more complicated becuase they know we have access to notes.

The majority of the classmates I've had are your average, hard working people. A lot of the people I've met are going to school part-time, on the side of juggling their job and family life, looking to transfer to a graduate school.

In the LRC and Library at the main campus, I've never had a problem with the computer network. There are always printers available to use, and the wireless access and network have never gave me any trouble before. There occupancy is a good size, as far as how many computers are limited, but it does get crowded at certain times. Never uncomfortable though.

Professor/student interaction is low. I prefer face-to-face lectures.

The student body at ARC is extremely diverse and I love it. You'll meet different people with different cultures. Almost every ethnicity is represented in your classes which is beautiful. Our college is also located in the most diverse city in the nation--Sacramento.

The classes are as fun as you make the experience because each professor will be different. The curriculum varies in difficulty depending on where you're at academically. However, my grade applies to the counselor component. Please do not expect your counselor do be perfect because they are known for making mistakes. I had to submit my official transcript for my prior college three times before they finally got it. One of my counselors didn't do the prerequisite process correctly so I got dropped from a class. The list goes on. Counselors do affect your academic career so make sure that you hold them accountable and double-check their work.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The tuition at American River College is standard with all other community colleges so my grade really applies to the financial aid portion. This school needs to improve with transparency and awareness of students' financial aid information and status. The updates, forms, etc. are all left as the responsibility of the student. The appeals process is also very strenuous with not knowing your outcome until two weeks before your semester.

The staff is very helpful , the campus looks very clean . the teachers are nice and really know how to teach . but a few of the ladies rooms are kinda nasty and the school has a lot of computer errors that mess up peoples plans and financial needs . but everything else is great and I would recommend this school to everyone.

American River College has a beautiful library, several floors high with tons of books, computers, quiet seating areas for studying, and enclosed group study rooms. It also has a book store where you can purchase all your textbooks as well as food, clothing, backpacks, school supplies, test sheets, and other merchandise. Unfortunately there are still many portable classrooms that are in bad condition, but they will be removed and replaced with permanent classrooms soon.

I have never visited the career center at my school, I am starting my second semester in college and have not required their services yet.
College Senior 2013-01-13T02:24:21Z
I have only used the library and except for always being very full, when I have been able to use the services it was a positive experience. Just not large enough to accommodate all of the students on campus.
College Senior 2013-01-13T02:19:04Z
I have never had any issues with the computers at school..except not enough for the amount of students needing them.
College Senior 2013-01-11T20:20:04Z
there are many helpful resources. there is tutoring and class assistance depending on the class. the library and other study areas make things very easy. also the student resource center provides all kinds of assistance that will help you succeed
College Senior 2013-01-11T20:10:20Z
my major is physiology. i am required to take science classes which fill up too quikly. this makes me unable to take the important classes i need so i have to take other classes that are not as helpful.
College Senior 2013-01-11T20:07:16Z
as long as the student is involved and asks for assistance he or she will be successful. the problem is getting into classes they are usually full very quick.
College Junior 2013-01-07T19:19:26Z
There are many computers for students and the library always has space.

Campus buildings are not labeled great for finding you class. To much violence, don't feel safe at night. Professors are good and after the first two weeks of semester class sizes are not to big.
College Senior 2013-01-07T01:54:23Z
