So Far So Good – I havent been going to the school that long yet, I've only finished one semester. However, so far, the classes I took were good and the professors did a good job of presenting and explaining the material in an effective way. I am going back next semester and I look forward to expanding my education and moving forward to get the credits I need in order to transfer.

Full Time College Kids – A lot of the people are full time students, going there to get their general education and transfer to a four yer university. There are also many students with children and lots of parents as well who are going back to school to broaden their education and maybe switch careers.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Take Advantage – The education that I have chosen to get will be worth it in the end, & the cost is reasonable. I have gotten very, very, very little financial aid which makes things a little rough sometimes but I am determined to finish out my degree, because I feel that it will make a difference in my life.

Class Registration – Class registration have been fairly easy for me. I have gotten in to almost every class that I need. The curriculum that I have chosen is good & I have had an awesome time with planning my schedule from day to day.

College Life – I am a psychology major and I have been able to get into all my required classes so far. The pathway that I am required to take is quite simple & to the point, & does not require a lot of unnecessary electives, which is good because I have gotten very, very, very little financial aide. I have really enjoyed going to college here, & I count it an honor to even be able to go to college.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
It is true that the tuition for schools are increasing. However, I find it quite unsatisfying when someone receives financial aid when they are not fully committed into going to school. I had applied to receive aid assistance, but I do not qualify due to my parents. They do not claim me as a dependent, but due to certain qualifications (my age and because I am unmarried/no child), I do not receive fafsa because they view me as a dependent. I finally was able to receive a fee waiver. Once. I have been attending there with hopes to continue my education, but it can be very difficult sometimes.

There are more than 30,000 students that attend this college. It is filled with many people of different ethnicities, religions, and different home economics. In fact, due to home situations, this institution has provided child care for students attending the college. It also has much diversity in the theatre department which shows that they are very accepting of every person for their talents.

Printing and Wireless Is Normal – For the most part, printing and computer labs are completely normal like any other campus. If someone needs to print off their essays for classes, you can print one paper for 10 cents. It isn't much, but if a teacher requires you to copy some things, it can add up. However, the insitution itself is not responsible for what some teachers want in their classrooms. The wireless can sometimes go down when so many people are on the network, but it rarely does this. Overall the network is pretty responsive.

Facilities Are Functional – The facilities at my college campus are fully functional to most students. It can be very difficult in the library to actually get a quiet room to sit and do work because of limited space; however, I imagine it must be difficult in any institution. They have some great places to buy food and it isn't very expensive which makes it functional for students. The theatre building is the most comfortable place with very clean environment and stays that way. The gyms are not bad and they keep a pretty clean environment as well. The only things I would change around the campus is the smoking around campus, which is not enforced.

A Great Re Entry School for Older Individuals Too. I like my school because it offers such a variety of programs, resources and classes to fit most students needs. Students are able to online classes as well as attending classes on campus.

American River College offers a wide assortment of classes that allow a student the flexibility to pick the days and time of their classes to meet their daily schedules.

Most Professor Are Willing to Work With Students Online or in Person. I have found that the Professor at my school are great teaches and more than willingly to work with any problems that a student may have. They offer a wide variety of programs and classes that allow students flexibility to work around most personal schedules.

The Culture Is Bad but the Teachers Are Good – The school has a very bad student body it is full of ghetto kids who are escaping from their moms' "go to school or get a job" mantra so the kids don't care about the school and it is obvious. The teachers are amazing though.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
I Don't Know – I can't review because i got money through other means.

I like the diversity of the school, i have not seen much to truly grade this. I mostly keep to myself, i work hard and only talk when spoken to or in projects.

Not Scary – Being a new student i was a little nervous when i got to school but my experience was great. It was not at all scary and the counselors I've had were of great help. The classes are flexible and the staff are always ready to greet you or answer your question the only thing i dislike is scheduling classes on my own.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Go BOGW – The financial aid and tuition department is very effective. Last year I qualified for the BOGW--which is a waiver for low income students-- and that allowed me to enroll and succeed. This last year's FAFSA showed that I made too much to qualify again for the BOGW. However there are different ways of qualifying and since I was a straight A student last semester, I was awarded the waiver again. I was extremely happy to recieve this because I stopped working to return to school and could not afford it otherwise. Thanks to the financial aid system, I will continue with my education!

To Care or Not to Care. The students at American River College are typical of most community college students. There are two types of student here: the one who is speeding through to move forward to either a career or university, and the one who is meandering through the courtyard enjoying whatever may distract her from her homework. While I have attended this school for the past two semesters, I have made one friend, which is discouraging to the "college experience" everyone raves about. This is common for the age group that attends and the socio-economic state of our community. The hope is that everyone who attends higher education will be involved in the school's activities and goal driven as to not clog the system. If the direction could steer more toward unified student body, the educational experience would be more welcoming and fulfilling to all. Overall the student body is diverse, welcoming to other religions and orientations--which is a great portrayal of the Sacramento area.

Food for Thought – American River College is known for its amazing culinary program, and outstanding professors. These two complimentary essentials to a great education set apart this college from others in the area. It is clear that the professors are extremely well educated and care deeply for the position they hold in the classroom and outside world. The students in the Culinary Program are direct relfections of this type of care and educated faculty the school provides. Their food is served in luxury with a set menu that changes frequently and provides affordable and excellent delicacies to anyone who is lucky enough to eat with them.

Variety, Good Education, Nice Professor – ARC is the best community college in Losrios district college in my opinion. the science department is really nice with great and caring professors. the students are out going, enthusiastic, and show their desire to learn. the tutoring programs such as Beacon tutor, EOP&S tutoring, are very helpful and really make a difference in students' academic performance.

Overall Content – I first started taking classes at ARC when I was in seventh grade. The teachers were really nice to me and have always been very helpful. Although the campus is not the newest, and there are not many events, I think the teachers are what make it special. They care for their students, are good at explaining the material in class, and will take the time to work with you in their office hours. There are some events on campus, but I never went to any. I was focused on my grades and education more than entertainment. I got a good education from wonderful teachers.

Good Technology, but Too Crowded – The technology in the library is very up to date and user friendly; they even have someone ready to help if anyone needs it. The only complaint about the library's computer lab is that there are not enough computers. The only time I have not had to wait for a computer is right after the library opened, but after about eight in the morning, there always seems to be a wait to get a computer.
College Senior 2012-05-16T04:08:10Z
Not Very Community Oriented – It is depressing most of the time. I feel anxious to leave campus, like its designed to make you want to go away. There really is no place where people can study and get coffee in one place, like a coffee or tea house. The library is decent, outdated, but the staff is nice most of the time. Not all the teachers have their books available at the library.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
