The School Does Good – The most difficult thing to deal with is the parking. It's horrible and hard to find a parking spot. Most of the classes I take are online and it's very convenient for me not to deal with the parking lots.

Class Registration – The school is a great learning environment but the one hassle is getting into the classes you want and need due to registration dates. Some students get registration dates that are before regular registration dates.

The campus Library is very helpful and very nice environment. Most of the resources a student would need is just foot steps away.

ARC Preschool – I am taking ECE320. In this class I work 1/2 the day at the college day care center. The center follows the philosophy of Reggio Emelia that children spend more time engaged in learning, when they are able to choose topics that interest them. I agree, I am much more interested in the classes I choose for my self in college then I ever was in K-12 when I learned just whatever the teacher had lined up for us to learn that day.

Academic Flexibility – I have to say, American River College has great class availability and many course choices. My experience has been very pleasant and hassle free.

Academic Experience – I have been attending American River College for three semesters now and have had a great experience with most of my professors. They have provided a great curriculum and really tried to accept all students into their class room. The work load was very manageable, of course you have to put all of time time and studying, but it is all doable. There is a lot of help offered to students at this College, tutors, computer labs, and beacons are always there to help. The only complaint I have about the school is the availability of the counselors; counselors are very important in an academic field because they guide and educate students about their career options and opportunities.

I have found that online courses are very well laid out and are a great convenience for the person that needs minimal supervision. I find that I get as much out of the class as I am willing to put in to the class.

The American River Review is a nationally recognized award-winning literary magazine produced each year at American River College. It includes poetry, prose, visual art, and photography. The publication showcases the work of the many talented fine arts students at ARC. They rock!

There is a ride range of people among the student body at ARC. Everywhere you go, you can meet someone interesting and who is very similar or very different from yourself.

American River College offers computers for student use in the Library and several other on campus areas. It is easy to get on a computer, and print whatever you need. The only problem is that the library should be opened earlier during the school semester.

Study Abroad and Events – American River College offers at least one study abroad program every year, which I don't think most colleges do. They make it somewhat cheap and interesting. American River College also have many on campus events such as plays, culture, and club days.

I'm Really Unsure – I really haven't used any of the career services offered. We do have a career councelor, who will go over your major and the career options with that major. I haven't been, but I've heard it can be helpful
College Senior 2011-04-26T19:23:28Z
Very Full Classes – The only real problem is the very full classes. So many students are competeing for spots in classes that professors drop you on the first day if you're late and not prepared for class, or if you miss a day in the first few weeks. They're trying to make room for people on the wait list, which I understand. It's next to impossible to get all of the classes you need unless you get a fantastic registration date.

A Good Place to Get Started – While ARC isn't a big four year university, it's a nice place to get ready to transfer. It's crowded and the classes are hard to get in to, but if you have a good relationship with a councilor you can get in to the classes you need. THe science program is fantastic here; almost all of my professors taught at UC Davis before coming here and are helpful and involved. There's not much campus culture, but to get started it's a nice place to go.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
