I hear a lot of people find jobs with their Associate degrees and the transfers are successful with what they received at ARC too.

Wah Wah. People at school are mostly there to learn and go home or to work. There is very little interaction between students and people they have not known before.

Tons O' Classes! There are a lot of classes offered at ARC. Despite the cutbacks in funding, there are plenty of transferable and non-transferable classes to choose from.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
All Is Good – The financial aid process at this school is great! Supplemental documents can all be submitted online. It seems extra effort has been put in to make this convenience available.

Communication With Teachers – My professors have been the most helpful and most involved that I have ever experienced

I Haven't Seen Alot Offered for My Major – My major is early childhood education.. they have classes for that specified goal but no classes offered in family and consumer science. Other schools in the Los Rios district have more available

Online Education – My school has a diverse amount of online classes but not a whole lot for specific majors

Teachers Are Always the Best Resource – We have a lot of resources available to us at American River, even more since the library remodel was finished. There are three or four computer labs including the library, and three ways to find scheduled tutoring on campus either individually or in group settings. Private study rooms are available in the library. There is a department in the computer sciences wing dedicated to student help that is full of knowledgeable and friendly staff, and of course the teachers make themselves available outside of class with office hours. I've known many teachers to stay after class to speak with students and answer questions, and have seen many students told to attend office hours to continue in-depth discussions. The teachers are by far the best resource.

The negatives are trying to find parking, waiting in the long lines for student services, and the amount of people trying to get into all the same courses. The teachers have been great and the students are pretty friendly...more so than Folsom Lake College. They offer more courses than any other local community colleges which is why I originally came to ARC.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Keep at It – You can't just send in an application for aid and get it. you have to make sure you have all the documents they want and keep your information as accurate as possible. If they tell you there's a problem, fix it as fast as you can!

Easy Time Management – I can get online and work from the comfort of my home and not miss anything if I get sick. The trick is to manage your time wisely and make sure you have internet.

The teachers are helpful and easy to talk to. I've never had any problem communicating with any teacher when I had to, and they've always been willing to work with me.

American River College provides excellent resources. These include on-campus computer labs, in-library computers, wireless internet access on-campus (in-class availability is great). Certain programs offer a maximum amount of free monthly printing and there are printers/copiers available on-campus (accessible via student access card).

Diversity of College – Students at my school are newly college students, parents, and adults. Our school is gladly to accept and provide any support services to any kind of ethnicity. ARC offers many kind of majors to students, it does not matter if we are full or part time students or in jobs. We all seek for a good career job for our future and ARC is where we chose to succeed.

Convenience of My Flexibilty – My flexibility of my classes are excellent because it connects good and its also the courses I wanted to take. I don't like a long break between my classes, so I said it's great because my classes does not overlap nor does it have a long break, neither does it separate by days.

Importance of Myself About My School – My experience of attending ARC for three years now has made me enjoyed and gain my knowledge to newer levels each time. It feels great to find solutions to things I do not understand. By making the impossible becomes possible in my future life. The strong connection with counselors, professors, support services, college classmates, and especially myself makes me feel good about me and my school. Most important is using my time wisely and responsibilities to make myself feel better and appreciating my school.

Many Things Are a Hassle, Limited or Difficult – The teachers, staff & administration are great, however classes fill up super fast even very early in priority registration, textbooks are extremely expensive, and parking is difficult to find.
College Senior 2010-12-04T00:30:27Z
Class Conflicts Are an Issue – I'm a journalism major, and am happy ARC has such a great head in the department, who teaches many of the classes. The journalism adviser, Tim Swanson, is awesome! Our college newspaper, the Current, is improving every issue under his guidance, and also by the drive of the Current's staff.
The problem is that many classes I want to take before transferring to university conflict with the basic journalism courses. I know much of this problem is due to cuts across the board and not so many class offerings are available, but it still pains me that I can't find the classes I want at varying times and/or days.

Facilities on ARC Campus Are Fairly Good – ARC has invested a lot of money into the library, computer labs, and theatre and athletic departments, which is great. Upcoming investments include a new cafeteria/student union building, a student athlete support center, and most critically, a new parking structure. The current lots are insufficient especially at the beginning of a semester, so the new parking structure will raise my grade for ARC from Aminus to Aplus.

very diverse student body, but sometimes not approachable

Intraction Is the Key – they sure offer the ease, but very little face to face attention.

Overall, I really enjoyed learning from professors who teach the classes I need for general-education requirements. However, when it comes to Computer Programming courses, I must say that most of the instructors are too smart for their own good. They don't always connect with the students appropriately and I feel like I am going to get a very unhelpful answer or irritated response when I ask questions. Besides this field, I would say that the teachers at American River College are nice and friendly. The environment is calm and quiet. Overall, this college is good to attend if students are only looking for an education and nothing more. I would certainly find another school if I wanted to attend one that is more lively and respectful.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Never Hesitate – Going to college may be difficult in most cases when you're dealing with other situations such as needing money to pay for living and grocery but with scholarships it is less stress going to school at American River College.
