Sometimes classes work out, sometimes they don't. We all know for a fact, that it is hectic in each an every classroom. Trying to make it before deadline for another class, studying for another class, creating a project for another. It is hard to believe that there is a flexibility to academic study. The only thing that kept me going was the perseverance and motivation to complete my education.

The academics offered are reasonable and are helpful according to our country's economical resources. The students enrolled at the school are mostly Education majors. The professors are somewhat and that depends who the instructor is involved with the students. I learn more when I interact with the teacher, if I don't most likely I feel neglected to be educated on that certain subject. However, I try not to depend on that...the curriculum is simple and I like simplicity its easy to understand. the only one thing that confuses me at times and is such a hassle is the getting the required classes and adding and dropping because the time and dates. But the one thing that I hope they will consider in the future are programs offered for other majors aside from Education Majors.

Everyone is either your neighborhood city/village friend, your relative or a relatives friend or someone you see eveyday at the shops. Our Island is small so you practically know everyone by face. The academic programs are many and very helpful so the opportunities are always there for you.

On Campus resources are some what improving in this area with computer labs, printing, network reliability and internet. The computer lab is a resourceful center and very helpful however, there are minor problems with internet and availability...but above that there is a center a place I am able to do my paper work and get resourceful information. The availability is my concern and time to complete a research. I only concern with the capacity and space. It limits the students from accomplishing and feeling comfortable with their research and it all depends on a certain day. But that's just my opinion.

The Resources over the years have been improving in the following areas mentioned. The athletic centers needs more improvement and I believe the college is preparing to work on that area of interest. The college is in an progression stage where the facilities are getting much better for the students to easily learn and find helpful resources. I personally believe that the campus is now more at an advanced stage than it was 10 years ago. As technology advances I only hope that the campus resources stays at the same pace as changes happens along the way.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The education I'm getting is well worth the money I'm paying. I got a big financial aid, because I have a local scholarship that helps pay for my tuition and fees. I'm fine with the expense because I know my degree will make a difference in my career. I learned the hard way that it's very important to get all the right financial aid forms in on time. The only thing I wish the school would do differently is make its fees better known.

The facilities on campus aren't bad. There's a gym. Even though it's not a campus students live on, it's definitely a comfortable campus to hang out at between classes, whether you're getting coffee from a canteen store or catching up on some reading at the library.

My school has A-Step programs for students who wants to become teachers. There is also a program for adults who wants to become teachers and for teachers who wants to get higher degrees. My school also has a CAPP program for ELI students who wants to finish their ELI courses early, so that they can take the required courses for their majors to graduate and that they don't have wait many years to finish the required courses that are needed to graduate.

American Samoa Community College does not offer online courses at the moment. However, I have enrolled on campus and the learning environment is excellent for associating with students and faculty members because it is an open environment. There is always a positive atmosphere and help just around the corner when it is needed. Everyone is friendly and open to assist with a concern or questions. I have never hesitated to ask anyone for help, because I know that I will be referred or assisted immediately. I really like the interaction with others because there's always a push and positive support to keep going until you accomplish your goals.

One thing I love about online courses is the registration process and the free time I have at home. Also I can work on my projects at my convenience anywhere whether at home or simply at the park.

My school consists of people with full-time jobs or families. But still I see that they make it a priority to attend school every day so they can have a better future.

I'm an education major, and it is a relief because our island cares more about education than anything else and they provide continuously through education.

Academics offer are a bit on the edge in American Samoa Community College. There are less to be truthful including scholarship opportunites. I can only wish that there were more, so I can be able to apply to them other than other places outside of the territory.

We rarely see our student body act out in creating new actiivites that can benefit the school and the students. When they do, they tend to qualify some students and not others. Most of their activities were fundraising for themselves adn not for others. A few charitable donations from them and that it about all.

Academic Processes – It is sometimes difficult to find time to discuss plans about my desire to transfer off-island. Also, I have had to take more classes because my program had classes that were non-transferable.

Cultural Influence – Because the majority of the population on campus is Samoan, the influence that our culture has on our policies is very high and easily noticed. Even though we dress in the western fashion, we do so conservatively in respect for our peers, our teachers and ourselves.

Facilities Are Not Terrible – Again, our campus is abundantly blessed with resources, but the time constraints are not always convenient.

Limited Time on Computers – Although we face no problems network-wise, the allotted time that we were given to use computer labs were sometimes inconvenient and made it hard to get things done.

Registration is a pain every year. Waiting in line for a very long time and not knowing whether or not your class has been closed or not. Its horrible, but sometimes when you get there really early you might be lucky.
As for the curriculum, its great. I believe the workload is at minimal, however, it is still very manageable and flexible enough for a student like myself to have a job.

Liberal Arts & Marine Science – The workload is average for the liberal arts major as for the marine science major I am going to be overloading the amount of classes I will be taking next semester. So it will be an awesome experiment when I get into this new Fall Semester.

Community College Is a Great Kickoff – American Samoa Community College was a kickoff for my college education and so far my experience with the college here is quite good. I love the one on one a student has with his or her teachers. The advisers are helpful as well especially when a student would like to transfer to a university or when a student needs help to make strategic plans especially for myself who is a double major.

We Need an Upgrade! There are only 4 computer labs on campus with 10-15 computers in them. However, most days not all those computers are working properly. They're outdated computers that the school have to find computer geeks to fix computers ever other day. Also, students do not have access to the internet on campus except through these computers!

Our Facilities Are Terrible! We have a gym, library, cafe and benches that are out of date. The only equipments we have at the gym are 2 basketballs, 2 volleyballs, and a volleyball net. The cafe is really small and many students eat off-campus. the library only carry books that are 7 years old or older. ANd the benches are not really benches. Guests who visit the school must be willing to stay in the instructors' lounge when they want to sit or rest.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
