Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Everywhere on campus has instant Internet access. The wireless network is a great convenience for students with laptops who want to emerge from their dorm rooms while writing term papers. This makes buying a laptop the best choice for those bringing their own computers.

The vast majority of students brings its own laptops, but students who can’t bring one need not worry because there are plenty of computer labs on campus with Internet access.

Technology, Technology

AU students almost always have their own computers,j and the school caters to that; many of the professors post all of their handouts online and don't even hand out paper silabi anymore. Some textbooks are even available as e-books, and many students use their laptops to take notes in class.

There are many computers in the olibrary, and a small computer lab in most of the dorms. Printing is easy in the library and these labs, and is drawn from your student account via your ID card, so you don't have to have cash. The Wifi is great!;

Wireless Network Can Be a Hassle

For the most part, Eaglesecure, American University's wireless network, has pretty good speed. The only thing that should be a concern is connectivity on campus, as some places, like the library, have slower connectivity during finals week because of the many people in the building.

Oh Eaglesecure...

The internet at AU, called EagleSecure, is definitely not the most reliable technology on the planet, but it is relatively fast. The internet will disconnect at strange times, and it seems like they're always doing maintenance on something. This shouldn't, however, take away from the overall technological aspect of AU. There are IT professionals available every day that will/can fix most anything.
