College Prowler Take
Students interested in Greek life have plenty of options as to which fraternities and sororities to join, although there are no houses for them on campus. Frats and sororities are a good choice for people who feel overwhelmed and want a surefire way to make friends. Students who don’t care about Greek life need not worry, as it is entirely possible to ignore.
Many of the students involved in Greek life live on the noisier south side of campus and are responsible for the rowdy environment there. This makes them easily recognizable for anyone who wants to join in their activities—or anyone who wishes to avoid them like
the plague.

Greek life makes up a lot of the organized nightlife. For someone who hates that whole scene, I feel like for the most part Greek life adds to the sense of community at AU. I even briefly considered rushing a frat (Delta Chi) because a lot of the guys are extremely nice.

Frats are not allowed to live on campus, but they still play a role. Greek parties are frequent. However, there are still enough non-affiliated students.

About 20 percent of AU is Greek . . . it’s really not a big deal at all. You can make friends easily here whether you are Greek or not. |

The Greeks seem to exist only to lend a more collegiate air to the campus, like cuff links round out the sleeves of a dress shirt. Greeks do not dominate the social scene; they exist because of it. |
