Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The cosmopolitan and ambitious student body tends to place a greater emphasis on individuality, motivation, and intelligence than on appearance, but a fresh, clean-cut look doesn’t hurt, either.

Straight women at AU complain that satisfactory boyfriends are hard to find, as girls considerably outnumber the guys on campus. Plus, there is a notable gay population. Exploring the greater city may be a more efficient way to hook up. Don’t be afraid to go out and meet people at bars, clubs, city organizations, or just on the street. While it is somewhat difficult to find straight, good-looking guys, they do exist at AU—you just have to look a little harder.

Quite the Contrary of What You Read Here

After reading College Prowler before attending AU, I was given the impression (because of the reviews here) that the girls were great looking and the guys aren't... The girls here complain that there aren't many good looking guys and they're all gay and whatnot... Not true. The majority of the guys look better than the girls do. I'm the one having trouble finding pretty girls. They're all cute! Just not.. hot. Very few.

For the girls, actually, YES, there is a big gay population, but we're still around if you look for us ;)

To Be Honest, I Am a Girl Who Loves Boys Who Loves Boys

We live in a city and it's college so people love to "experiment with their sexuality". Yes, there are some classes with more gay guys in the room than straight ones but I don't see that as anything terrible. Many girls will complain about the lack of eligible bachelors on campus but come on! There are plenty of wonderful straight men to be found both on campus and off if you look hard enough and do other things besides stay in your room and Facebook stalk all the men you will never have. My advice? Join some AU clubs during the week, go to some DC clubs on the weekends and eventually the right man, or perfect one nightstand, will appear.

Guys Aren't That Great

There's very few guys at my school I'd give the time of day to. On a whole they are not attractive, and they constantly complain about the lack of attractive girls while failing to recognize their own faults.

What kinds of relationships have you had since coming to school?

How would you rate the social scene on campus?

Facts

Social Scene

The social scene at AU is varied—there's something for everyone. However, AU has an overwhelming female population. Therefore, many of the more attractive young women on campus either lower their standards—looks-wise—or choose to head off campus to find an equally attractive male counterpart. Ladies, do not fear, though: D.C. is full of eligible bachelors. Be sure to check out the frat and house parties, clubs, bars, and shows in the area.

Hookups or Relationships?

Both hookups and relationships exist commonly at AU, and both can be obtained if interested. Many of the busiest students opt for hookups, though, so as not to interfere with their schoolwork or internships.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

Out in the city! Don't stick to AU.

Dress Code

Because AU is in the highly-professional capital city, the dress is more formal than most places. Students are often seen wearing suits while coming and going from internships or jobs, with slacks and collared shirts not unusual. Outside of the professional aspect of the fashion at AU, the students are indistinguishable from any other college students. Hoodies and flip-flops are everywhere!
