Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The two most popular places for students to live off campus include the Berkshire Apartments (Berks) and the Avalon at Foxhall apartments.

The Berks actually have a partnership with AU, where a certain number of units are available to students directly through the AU Housing and Dining Program. While it is not required to rent a Berk apartment through AU, it is much more reasonable than renting it directly from the Berks. The Avalon is more expensive than the Berks, and fewer AU students live here compared to the Berks.

Apartments for DC

While there are off-campus housing options available--and they are rather nice--the problem is going to be the expense for the student. If affordability is what someone is looking for at American University, he or she is going to have to look to triple up with fellow students.

Great

Apart from the issue of transportation, I'll prefer to stay off campus as the price for an off-campus house in a year is equal to what we pay in a semester for on-campus housing
