Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

San Angelo is a college town, military town, and retirement town. Because of this, there are many apartment complexes. The standard of living in San Angelo is lower than that of the rest of the state, with a one-bedroom apartment running around $550 a month. This is a bit expensive for a college student, but only marginally more expensive than living in the dorms. The saying "you get what you pay for" can apply easily to housing in San Angelo. To have a nice place, a student might have to cough up a hefty price.

A popular choice is to rent a house with friends and split costs two to three ways. Students have to deal with roommates but receive quite a bit of freedom in the process. This can be riskier because of possible difficulties with unreliable roommates that leave one or two left picking up the slack. For that reason, student housing like Angelo Place and The Grove is another popular choice. Because they rent out by the bed, an unreliable roomate will be kicked out without the others needing to pick up the slack. The majority of tenants are college upperclassmen, and it is a popular and social living space. However, with a large population of college students, parties also occur with great frequency.
