Courses Mysterious – Course descriptions are vague, and the people who may help with registration (it's mostly done online) don't seem to have much knowledge about them, or don't respond helpfully to specific questions. There appears to be a good variety in courses, but it's hard to tell if you aren't sure what to expect.

Very Nice – From my experiences at AR the students are all very friendly. There is a large variety of the types of students ranging from juniors in high school to single parents or even older. Mostly everyone here is willing to socialize but making actual friends is difficult because a lot of the students have friends from high school there.

Classes Are All at the Same Time – The only problem I have with the flexibility at my school is that it seems like all the classes I want to take are at the same times. But the fact that they have the lowest tuition in the state helps me to not get frustrated.

Location, Location, Location – My school is located right on the banks of the Mississippi River which makes it different than other community colleges I know. I love being able to go out side and study/do my homework over looking the water. Besides being located right on the river it's pretty easy to get to, except in heavy traffic. I gave it an A- just because getting into the parking lot and finding a spot to park is always a hassle.

The career center is very helpful here among students who still don't know their career decision

Computer at School – The computers Here are cool but sometimes freeze many times and some computers here are slow.

Post Grad Quality – Anoka Ramsey has been extremely accepting. Financial aid requires little work if you have access to all of the correct paperwork, which most people do. No appointments are required for financial aid or registration assistance. This is very convenient for those enjoy getting things out of their way in their own time.

Online Course Experience – From my experience with online courses they tend to have simpler assignments to make up for the lack of human interaction. The flexibility of schedule due to being able to turn homework in from home is pretty convenient. I prefer attending class because I enjoy human interaction and being able to clarify with the teachers face to face if I have an issue.

Anoka Ramsey Experience – Cost effectiveness and the comfort of home meet schooling. From the moment I stepped foot in AARC I have been greeted by smiling faces and friendly greetings. I may plan to transfer, but even so, this school isn't all that bad.

Very Diverse and Social – My school draws a very diverse class of people. Some choose for it for convenience while others are there for affordability. Most are fairly social and tend to be easy to have conversations with.

Minnesota Transfer Curriculum – I am only here to get my generals done. As far as generals go, the classes are fine. Nothing is wierd or out of place and they have a decent selection of classes for all your needs. Mostly, you do not get stuck with a horrible class you don't like being required as they offer other classes that meet the same requirement.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Great Price! My financial aid experience has been great thus far. At Anoka-Ramsey everything was paid for on the account of my low-income parents. If I was an independent student, tuition would be affordable because it is the cheapest within the state of Minnesota! I feel like I am getting a quality education for the price the government has paid.

Smaller Campus With a Lot of Variety – Anoka-Ramsey has a lot to offer being a community college. There are a wide variety of academic programs for students: art, science, engineering, nursing, gen. ed./transfer, theater, etc.. I feel like Anoka-Ramsey tries to stay up-to-date with the trends by renovating areas within the campus to make it more aesthetic.

Good for Transfering Credit – I really like Anoka-Ramsey, it just doesn't have the appeal that most 4-year universities have. I chose this school because it was an inexpensive way to get my A.A. degree and transfer to the U of MN to work on getting my Bachelor's. Whenever I visited the school administration I felt like a number. However my professors still know my name and face if I happen to stop by and visit with them to talk.

Where Is It? Anoka-Ramsey lacks in career services. Even though there are workshops to help build your resume and a career center online that students can access via D2L (the online client used by students and teachers for courses), there is virtually no alumni network or area for job prospects.

My Experience Thus Far – I chose to go Anoka-Ramsey because it is cheap, close to my home, and offers the courses I need. I have been at Anoka-Ramsey for two years now--my only regret is that I did not start attending earlier! The campus offers a wide variety of courses as well as courses that apply to my major in chemical engineering. The professors and staff members are very friendly and helpful. Anoka-Ramsey makes it easier to transfer to other colleges because the academic center offers transfer guidelines based on your declared major.

Great Value for the Price – For a community college, Anoka-Ramsey offers a great value for the low price you pay for tuition. There is the newly-designed student lounge which hosts a coffee shop. The library is a fairly good size and offers a "talking" study area for group projects--plus there are rooms available within the library to accommodate larger groups. There are several gymnasiums as well as athletic activities on campus so students can stay in shape! The campus offers a little bit of everything.

A Typical Student – There is not a "typical" student at ARCC. There are people from all ages and walks of life. We are able to interact and learn from each other without any barriers or preconceived notions to look at.

Anything Is Possible. The amount of programs offered when I applied was shocking to me. I did not think that there would be that many classes available to me nor that many degree programs that a person could go after.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
I found that ARCC was a very reasonably priced college and the fact that I could get tuition reimbursement to allow for my living expenses and books was of even more of a benefit. It allowed me to return to college while still being able to care for my child and be a single Mother in the pursuit of a better life for herself and her children.

My Non-Traditional Experience – I was thrilled to be able to do most of the registration and application process online. I only had to make one trip to the college to finish the enrollment process and submit my documents. I could do everything including paying my application fees online. This way I only have to drive to the college once a semester to pick my books up, and they will mail them to you if you would rather they do that instead.

Ability to Adapt – ARCC allows for students to attend classes in different fashions. They allow the students to express their opinions no matter good or bad and if there is any situation that we are in need of help with the staff is more than willing to assist us in any way possible. The school has a fitness center that is available to all of us that are enrolled. This is a good way for us to relax and ease our minds while at the same time maintaining our goals for weightloss or fitness during class breaks, or after classes for the day.

My Computer Lab – There is a computer lab with assistance to all students that are currently registered available for long hours 6 days a week. We can print anything that we need to and we are able to get assistance from the support staff with any computer or class forum issues. I am glad for this since I am a solely online student and don't have access from my home right now. I have to go to the towns library and to print there costs me $.25 each copy. To print at the school is free. I can upload anything I want to print to my jumpdrive and use one of the schools computers or print directly from my computer for free. This is a great benefit to me.

My College Experience. I had attended college in another state and the college I found out when I applied to ARCC was not accreditted to this area and I was able to apply credits I had taken in high school and the first time I had attempted to attend college from 1989-1993. I was very glad to be able to do so and I am able to petition to have some of the courses that I took in another state to be given credits for as well.

I Love My School – I enjoy attending Anoka-Ramsey Community College because there are many different options that are available to the students. The options for attending classes are both traditional and non-traditional as well as partial on campus and online available to us students. This allows for those of us who are adults returning to school to be able to go back and obtain a degree while still working or managing our families. I am a single parent and the school is very willing to assist with whatever those of us who have been out of school for awhile need to adjust to returning to college.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
