Dorms Are Great – I haven't seen much of the upperclassmen apartments and other options, but I personally love the dorm that I am living in. It's renovated and me and my friends spend most of our time hanging out in the floor lobby and taking "field trips" to the vending machines downstairs.

Health & Safety:
Safe Campus – With SafeRide, campus police and the short walk to anywhere on campus, there's no reason not to be safe on Appalachian's campus.

Very Diverse – Appalachian is what I'd call a melting pot of ethnicities. Its a very inter racial campus, which I like alot.

FOrget about parking on campus without a pass. Downtown only allows 1 hour parking. Your best bet is to park at the mall and take the bus. Sometimes you get lucky with a friend who lives close to campus, but weekday parking is awful. This town LOVES to tow. boots are pretty common as well. Buy yourself a parking pass either through the school or at a lot close to the school.

Guys & Girls:
Girls Are Pretty – We have many beautiful women here at Appalachian. The men however, are pretty disappointing. Either classic frat boy, mountain man, hippie, (insert white boy stereotype here), all are about average in looks. All the black men play football or basketball and look the part. Not much variety among the 7,000 that go here.

Health & Safety:
Getting Sketchier – ASU is overall a pretty safe place and in a pretty safe location. However, there are occasional accounts of sexual or physical assault, armed robberies, car break-ins etc.

A druggie world – Psychedelics are pretty prevalent in a good portion of ASU, due to the mountain folk and hippie scene and its beautiful location in the mountains. Prescription pills are popular, Heroin isn't present, and coke is pretty popular among frats and sororties. Overall, party drugs (molly more than x, lsd, cocaine, pills, shrooms) are not hard to come by.

Sucks For underclassman – I love my school, ASU, but I absolutely HATE being under 21 here. Boone has a pretty chill local music scene, and some really bad house parties. If you're under 21 though, you don't get the option of going and seeing music at the local bars. The only under 21 legit spot is the Hookah Lounge, but don't ever expect to find a DJ and dance party going on! Most weekend nights, Id rather stay home and get high off some good ol Boone weed. Honestly I don't even care if I can't drink, Ill X my forehead for the opportunity to be able to get out and dance!

Best Choice for Me – Appalachian was the best choice I've ever made. It's a place where you know if you are supposed to be here or not very quickly. Everyone is friendly and I don't consider anyone a stranger. It's just a small town campus where you are more likely to do something outside than anything else. A typical day is something like: go to class, get a quick climb/fly fishing/snowboard/hike in, come home and have a beer and get your work done. How could you not be relaxed?

The weather is awesome! I love snow and cold weather so it fits me. Classes will never get canceled and you might blow away if you don't weigh enough. But it's such an awesome experience to walk to class in the snow when you're bundled up

The two things that are most present here are smoking and drinking. It's just one of those things that if you want to go for it, and if not, you won't be excluded.

For the most part the nightlife in Boone is, on a scale of 1-10, around a 7. It is a small mountain town, but there are plenty of options for anyones taste.

The library and other labs around campus are usually convenient and available, but on busy nights around exam time its extremely hard to find a computer.

Although I have not been able to be admitted to the Walker College of Business, I have began taking prerequisites for my major and have throughly enjoyed my classmates, teachers, and quality of education.

It's Alright – The main source of transportation for App students is the Appalcart. It takes you pretty much anywhere you want to go in Boone, but getting to those places can sometime take a painfully long time. Driving is the best option, but getting a bus to the parking lot, bringing your car back that night (you can't park on campus after 7 am if you don't have a permit), and getting a bus ride back to campus can just be too much of a hassle.

Greeks Throw the Best Parties – Greek life doesn't dominate at App, but they definitely throw some awesome parties and tailgates. Girls have no problem getting into frat parties most of the time but boys do if they're not part of it. Recently, I've come across guestlists which was hopefully a once or twice only thing.

The capmus is absolutely gorgeous, but this is expected living in the mountains. Not to mention the leaves turn beautiful colors in the fall that makes walking to class more enjoyable. The buildings are also attractive, but doesn't give off a big state school feel. Football stadium isn't very new but it's still nice as well.

Small Town – I live in the small town of Lenoir Nc. There is not a lot to do but ever since I moved up here from Charleston I been doing a lot of work around my house. Me and my dad are building couple of buildings to help and keep our house more organized. We had to move up here because my mom got cancer and I want to spend as much time with her as I possibly can. Other then all the house that I do we usually go to football games up at Appalachian State on Saturdays and on Sundays there is a local auto club that has a lot of retro cars I take my three little sisters to see.

Do Your Job or Go Home – The school holds each person responible for his or her actions. There is a high level of expectation.

Sports a Must – Varsity and sports non- varsity are highly welcomed. We have a wonderful training and facilities.

High Cost – Boone North Carolina is very high cost of living. Mant apartments are available but houses are too. Not all that easy to find a place to fit a students budget that has no family backing.

It can be very cold and windy in the winter, but if you have the right clothes for the elements it is ok. Snows quite a bit in the winter.

App State Housing – Apartments are plentiful and the price is very good. Good transportation from most places.

Appalachian has a great atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and what can I say, the Appalachain mountains surrounding the school are breath-taking
