I love Arcadia. I am not a very social person so the lack of night activities and the fact that it is a suitcase school do not bother me. The professors are fantastic and they are willing to do what is necessary for you to succeed. The food is terrible but I dont mind.

Guys & Girls:
Everyone is extremely nice at Arcadia. The one thing I did not know is that this school is 70% girls and only 30% guys. If you are a girl and you are looking to find a relationship, Arcadia is probably not the right school for you.

There Is Always a Place to Park! There is a lot of parking at the school but the only problem is if you don't come early enough, you might not find a spot close to the building you need to go to. You might then have to park farther away and walk for a few minutes (it's not a big campus so the walking really isn't a long distance). Parking costs $60 per year and there are parking lots designated for staff and faculty, commuters, etc so just make sure you're parking where you're supposed to and you display your tag.

Tons of computers with fast and reliable internet access. Printing costs 5 cents per page but at the beginning of the semester, each student gets a credit of $50 towards printing. A personal computer is not really necessary.

Arcadia has Honors societies that are "greek", but as far as sororities and frats, Arcadia does not have them.

Even though we are a private University, we are very diverse I'd like to think. Even though it is a lot of Caucasians, there are a plethora of religions within this group. We host students from around the world. Also, we have a fairly large group of African Americans as well, being so close to the city. Lastly, the school has a very large following in the Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/TransSexual group.

Professors are very willing to give extra help or give input on papers/projects/research. Curriculum is challenging but not too difficult. The workload is most definitely manageable. Their study abroad opportunities are phenomenal. So many students I am in class with have been abroad and are either going back or want to go back very badly. My study abroad experience was unforgettable. Their registration process is very easy as well. The advisors are very involved in making sure you are in the correct classes.

Can I Get a Ride – You need a car on campus to get to most places. There is a Walmart and a Pathmark in walking distance. However, to go to the mall you can take public transportation (SEPTA) or a car or a friend with a car.

The school plans something every weekend for students to do and gives out some awesome prizes. However, other than that there is not much to do on campus. You have to look for your fun. There are some parties in the apartments off campus. Best bet is to go into Philly and attend another college's (Temple, Drexel to name some)parties. There aren't many bars in walking distance of campus and you get to many places without a car.

AU Life – Arcadia is an Overall okay college. Academics are not very hard unless you're taking biology classes. The dorm rooms are pretty nice and a decent size for a college dorm. The best part of the campus is the study areas available in the library. Worst part I would have to say is the lack of places to go off campus. The social atmosphere is good as long as you have a good group of people to hang out with. The cost is pretty extreme and I dont't think it's worth it. Housing process is pretty easy and straight forward.

It all depends on how much work you put into your studies. If one works hard, he will achieve his goal without the school interceding and coming to his rescue. The school is very strict as far as their student rules and regulations regarding proper behavior and classroom etiquette. I get along quite well with all of their rules.

I am a commuter student, so I travel to and from my apartment each day.

Don't Need It, Don't Bring It – Unless you really need a car, don't bother. Your best bet is to have one friend in the group have a car and split the permit cost. Unless you have a permit, don't park at the dorms, you will be fined.

There is no nightlife at Arcadia. If you have a car or want to take the train into Philly, you might find a club, but they are mostly 21 and up.

Seen Better, Seen Worse – I only used a meal plan for one semester because my school offers apartment style housing. It is much easier and cheaper for me to shop for myself. There are options nearby for food, but mostly you would need a car or to take the train to Philly to get to them.

Glenside, Pennsylvania is the typical forest like town. Everything is covered by shade due to the enormous amount of trees. It is a step up from the typical country feel, but still has not reached the suburban feel. If you lived in the crowded city of New York for 14 years like me, Glenside is definitely a new experience.

Many Options – In the Glenside area there are a lot of apartment complexes to choose from. The prices vary, so it's easy for someone to find what they want in their price range.

Health & Safety:
Health and Safety Is Great – I have never felt unsafe at Arcadia University. Public safety always answers calls quickly, and health services has great hours and can usually help you with whatever you need.

The computers in the Landman Library at Arcadia University are almost always occupied. The computers and laptops are always taken by students who live off campus and dont feel like bringing a computer, and the computer labs are usually filled with classes unless it is late at night.

Campus Living – Living on campus was the best decision I made. Everyone is friendly and fun. There is always some activity happening on the campus, even if you are not interested. Last year, President Obama was present at our campus and each student had an opportunity to get a ticket. Being close to the city, gives us a chance to explore the many sites in Philadelphia. I love living here on campus. It truly gives you an opportunity that you might not have had if you lived at home!

I Like It – I like that after your freshmen year, most people dont live in regular dorm rooms, you get an apartment

Perfect Small Campus Vs. High Tuition – It is hard for me to choose a grade for this topic because I really do love Arcadia. It is a nice small campus, which is exactly what I was looking for. The class sizes are smaller so the interactions with the professors are positive and the professors know their students on personal levels. I never feel like I am just a number in my classes and I feel that if I had chosen to go to a larger school with lecture classes I would not have the same interactions with my professors and my grades would suffer. I love Arcadia so I feel like I would choose it again if I could do it all over but I do not know for sure because of the high tuition cost. The tuition has reached $43,000 and the school just is not worth putting myself into as much debt as I already have.

Buses Are the Way to Go – The public transportation at Arcadia is decent. The bus stops are right outside the main entrance to the campus and others across the street from campus. The bus fee is only two dollars each way and the bus can take you anywhere. They do not run all night, they stop at 2:00 a.m. There is also a train station within walking distance (it is about a 5-10 minute walk) that can be taken to other campuses or directly into Philadelphia. It also does not run all night.

Michaels Is Across the Street – At Arcadia, there is a restaurant conveniently located directly across the street from campus called Michaels. It is open 24/7 and has good food for low prices. Their popular items include the cheese fries, pizza fries and their chocolate milkshakes are the best. Students from Arcadia are there at least once throughout the day, and many of them find there way to Michaels after a night out. There are also many fast food places such as McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King, and Subway by campus, but you need a car and it is about a two minute drive away.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
