The weather is not terrible but it is not amazing either. When it rains the pathways become flooded and it is a pain to walk to classes from some dorms. When it snows a lot the potted trees on the walkways get top heavy and fall over making it hard to walk along the paths. Classes are not far from the dorms so it is not that bad. When the weather is nice students sit/lay out on the soccer field, which some call "Beaver Beach."

We're D3 – Arcadia is a Division Three (D3) school when it comes to Athletics. The student involvement in the Athletics is average. Some of the teams are smaller so they do not do so well and have poor records. We do not have a football team so the school spirit is not really there and because there is no school spirit the fan support is not that great. Since we are a Division Three school the school tends to focus more on fixing the facilities and not the soccer fields, baseball fields, etc.

They Call Us "Ar-Gay-Dia" – At AU there are many different types of races and religions, it is a very diverse campus. There are also many people who are homosexual, so people who do not attend AU call our school "Ar-gay-dia." They gay population at Arcadia do not have problems fitting in with the rest of the campus, they socialize with other homosexuals in clubs as well as heterosexuals in other social settings on campus.

Random Atmoshere – The atmosphere at Arcadia is SO random and SO diverse. The jocks and the theatre people are mixed and one in the same. It's a great community that is very understanding. Although there are parties, you can avoid them without being a loser.

I don't even think there is a greek life at Arcadia. If there is, I didn't even know about it!

Communication Department – My major at Arcadia is a cross between Video Communications and Journalism. The opportunities at my college are pretty great, you just need to go looking for them. As a first year student, I was able to hook myself a wedding job, which means I will film and distribute their video. This kind of opportunity was emailed to me, but I had to set up the interview and more. Although I wasn't at the top of the list for work study, I was able to procure a job in the communication department by jumping the list.

Study Abroad – Everyone here talks about studying abroad. It's pretty encompassing and worthwhile. Study abroad can happen any year here, from the first semester of college to the final year of college, as long as you fulfill your requirements. The school offers a good variety of destinations and is always open to new places that they do not have a program with.

Strictness Is Average – As long as you follow the rules, it's not too bad. Like anywhere, as long as people are quiet, there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Quiet Place – There isn't much to do. But only a 30 minute train ride away from Center City, Philadelphia. It's peaceful and quiet.

Arcadia is definitely willing to work with students to get them the financial aid they need. They will do just about anything to help you out. Now and then, a few forms will get lost and you'll have to complete them again but the hassle is mostly worth it.

Not Too Much – There isn't too much around the immediate area but there are some good Chinese and Pizza Options. For the good stuff, you'd have to head up to the Willow Grove Mall--a 15 minute drive away.

Health & Safety:
Health & Safety – I have never felt unsafe at Arcadia University. The Campus Security is friendly and helpful and is always willing to help students out.

Lots of Personal Attention – Classes at Arcadia are notorious for their small size and personal attention. In nearly all my three semesters here, my teachers have known my name, where I live, and my interests. I can only recount one class where my teacher did not know my name. Like most schools, you get the range between the boring and mundane, fun and engaging, the wild and crazy, and the insane and difficult teachers, but Arcadia does a good job of hiring a good mix of teacher personalities within each major. My only critique is that a lot of times students wind up with the teachers who care too much about their subjects...good if their a great teacher, bad if they aren't so great at bringing their passion down to a student's level.

If You Live in Oak Wear Wellies – well if you live in oak and it rains its like crossing a great river when walking to campus. the side walk becomes a pond and so does the road next to the side walk to sometimes cars will speed by and splash you with water. also the walk of pride can get pretty swamped with water when it rains so be careful on campus too.

Just Wait Till Your 21 – things are all good if you are 21 but other than that there is usually nothing to do at night on the weekends so most people go home. the campus is so small most parties get busted and the students get written up by the RAs.

Could Deff Be Better With the Money We Spend – the dining hall is pretty bad. i mean they usually have the same things everyday and turn left overs into something that it shouldnt be...like tomato sauce for spaghetti into tomato soup. the vegetables are always covered in butter or geese and are never fully cooked. the best thing there is the sandwich and salad bar.

Other than not being able to have a car as a first year student, parking is great at Oak Summit, and on campus at night. During the day, it is crowded, but students who live in Oak Summit or Manor shouldn't be driving to campus anyway. I'm glad they added an extra parking lot at Oak Summit.

Oak Summit Is Roach and Mouse Infested – I hate Oak Summit! It is roach and mice infested, and the exterminator personally told me that it's Arcadia's fault because they do not want to invest money to fix the ceilings that are open to bare concrete or the holes behind the washers and dryers. It is also outdated, and needs remodeling, but Arcadia is not willing to invest the money. It's so sad that we pay $10,000 a year to live in an outdated, pest-infested building when we could live somewhere like Wyncote Towers, which is clean and in great shape, and the same price!!

Good but extremly dusty, and not enough money for RA's to actually do anything.

First Time as a Sophomore – As I am in my second year, my father was finally able to get his taxes done on time and so we applied for financial aid. However, I expected a better response, I have been to the financial aid office three times and each time I was told I would receive it soon, but i have yet to receive it.

Computer Labs Are Ok. I appreciate the opportunity of the computers being available to us, but it is very annoying when they crash or when our main computer lab which is in the library, the printers just stop working for the whole day and we have assignments to turn in.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
