As a student who works well on her own, I appreciate reading, doing research and studying at my convenience. It takes a lot of focus and self-discipline, which I already possessed but continue to nurture as my classes become increasingly difficult. I also like being able to contact my instructors, administrative representatives and other students as need be, while not being obligated to 'show up' somewhere on a set schedule. The digital books are very much a plus and easier to transport, but also better for my financial aid.
As I am just transferring in to Argosy and only in my first class, I have limited experience with the content offered within the classes I need. One main reason why I did switch to this college is that the core classes, as well as the electives they offer are more in sync to my career needs. I feel as if I am getting the most for my money instead of taking classes that will not be useful to me once I graduate.
My financial is easy to finalize. As a single mom with a disability, I qualify for federal aid as far as paying for college. Because I like to double-up on classes at times, it can have an effect on how far I can stretch my pell during a fiscal year, but my financial adviser stays on top of this information and lets me know my options.
The best thing about Argosy is that classes are accelerated and intense so you focus only on one subject at a time. The professors are constantly striving to assist students in their learning and are very encouraging every step of the way,
I am a Forensic Psychology major, so my classes revolve around the law and psychology. We are required to do at least 2 personal interviews per class which I originally felt were an added time expense that I could not really afford; however, the information I have learned as a result of these interviews has been great. In addition, the process allows me to get my name out there and to begin a networking of relationships in the field of psychology and the law.
