Parking is extremely expensive but available everywhere. A lot of the parking is covered but it's still really expensive. Some of the parking is far from campus but they provide buses to and from parking lots

Health & Safety:
Dorm Security – In order to enter the dorms, one must have an I.D. and a key. The I.D. is used to actually enter the dorm area, while the keys open every door from there on in. It helps provide high security and safety for the studenets on campus and living in the dorms.

Guys & Girls:
The guys at Arizona State have a plethora of different ways they dress. Some dress sporty and others based on their culture. The girls tend to wear daisy dukes and lose tops in this hot heat! Many of the students seem to prefer to skateboard around campus, including the girls.

Growing in numbers every year, parking has become more of a hassle. Parking is extremely expensive and there is rarely any parking available. Not to mention the meters do not provide enough time to even attend class for an hour. This is something ASU needs to improve on without a doubt!

Safe and Sound – I have never felt threatened on campus. However, I do remember a few instances in which some students have been harassed. Regardless, ASU is a very safe campus!

Not Enough Variety – I think the food there is great! However, I would like to see more dining options across campus. Furthermore, as a Nutrition student I think it is important to offer food options to those who may be vegan.

The computers at ASU never give me any problems. It takes a while to get to the main screen after you enter your username and password, but the quick internet access more than makes up for it.

Despite what Hollywood movies have to say about it, college is not a time to just party. I am a Math major, but I did not take many of courses seriously enough, and I ended up barely passing them. For other Math majors, my advice is to get tutoring on all courses (even courses where you are confident and competent), take your electives as late as possible, and avoid Advanced Calculus and other higher level math courses unless you have a lot of experience in comprehending and remembering mathematical proofs.

The temperatue at ASU is not a very big problem during the winter months, but even for an Arizonan, being outside can be unbearable from the late spring to early autumn. If you must attend summer school, choose online classes only.

I really enjoy attending Arizona State University. I have never had trouble with bullies or the like, but I am mildly annoyed by the smoking on campus. I suggest that someone create designated smoking areas to decrease the likelihood of suffering from second-hand smoke.

Happy With My Program?? Am I happy with my program of study?? Yes and no. Yes, because I am proud of what I accomplished! And no, because of all the different areas that I had to study and the time it took me to complete my degree. I would not do it all over again, I would choose something else. My career goals are to become a doctor. It was my first passion and I should have stuck to my guns! I don't have too many concerns about finding a job in my field because social work is such a broad field; there are many different areas that I could go into with my degree.

BSW Program Admission Process – Applying to the BSW Program was somewhat easy. You had to fill out an application, have two references, and complete the required prerequisites with a C or better! But you can't apply to the "Professional Program" until you completed the prerequisites and you were a junior in college. So up until then, your major is "Pre Social Work."

During the Fall and Winter seasons the weather is amazing! It can get a little cold in the morning during the winter time, but by midday it feels warm and sunny outside. But during the Summer season, that's a whole different situation...it can get up to 120 degrees during the AZ summers and it is horrible!!! I am a native of Arizona, born and raised, and I still cannot stand going outside during the extreme heat unless I HAVE TO!!!

BSW Program – Being a student at the School of Social Work and pursuing a BSW degree has been very challenging because there is so much that this program requires you to learn. Students in the BSW program take classes in all disciplines, i.e. Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Human Biology, Stress Management, Social Service Delivery Systems, etc. It was particularly challenging for me because I was also working full-time throughout my college years, so my 4 year degree took 6 years to complete. I enjoy my program because it allows me the opportunity to help a wide range of individuals. The curriculum is challenging but just enough! But overall, it is rewarding once you finish a class and can go out into the world and apply what you've learned. The internship process for my program was very easy; the faculty is very supportive in matching you with the right internship, and they handle almost everything, unlike other majors that require the student to go out and "find" an internship, the BSW program "places" their interns with pre-approved sites.

BSW Intern – During the last two semesters of my program of study (Social Work), I am required to complete an internship consisting of 240 hours of internship each semester. Along with the internship comes added responsibilities, deadlines, documentation, etc. because it is essentially another job. The first semester that I had to do an internship I was so exhausted and stressed with everything that needed to get done in a matter of 3 months; I work full-time as a medical research assistant, along with going to school full-time, and interning for 24 hours each week, I hardly had time to eat, sleep, do homework, and there was definitely NO time for extracurricular and leisurely activities. With my major, the process of finding an internship was fairly easy because we get "placed" at different agencies rather than having to go out and look for a company/agency to intern at. There are other colleges and majors at ASU that do it differently than the School of Social Work. For the BSW program there is no pay or stipend for interning, but for the MSW program there are some internships that pay interns.

Diverse Selection – There are Thai food restaurants, authentic Mexican food restaurants, and a Farmer's Market for high quality products.

ASU's parking situation is dire. Parking lots and structures sell out quickly despite the ever-increasing prices, so a large number of students get stuck parking off campus or in a designated lot some distance from campus. The new Light-Rail train system is only useful to students attending multiple campuses, but the free shuttle service helps alleviate some of these problems. The Flash buses are prompt, fast, and free.

ASU is the heart of Tempe in Arizona. Shopping, bars, clubs, restaurants all within a stone's throw of the campus means lots to do in town and the surrounding areas, great people watching, and frequent and regular events being put on nearby. Concerts, beer festivals, bicycle festivals, the annual Undie Run, art festivals, Iron Man, block parties galore. Not to mention ASU athletics and it's rival UA to the south keeping traditions and tensions alive and well. There's something for everyone if you can brave the desert heat.

West Campus – West Campus is a great option for the people who would prefer smaller class sizes and a more personal experience with professors and fellow classmates. Professors seem to really care and are much more available to their students because of the smaller size. Overall it was the best choice of environment for me to accomplish the things that I had wished to accomplish.

Health & Safety:
Night Classes – I had to take many night classes at the West Campus and never felt unsafe. The campus is well lit in all areas, including the surrounding outside perimeter and parking lots. There are always security guards around that will be more than happy to escort you to your vehicle or destination if need be and there are also security blue light stations in the parking lots in case of an emergency.

This Is Arizona Dears Prepare for Heat – that means it is really hot during the summer, like 115 F. Sop be aware of the heat, drink plenty of water and try to stay inside as much as possible during the heat of the day (about 2pm-5pm). Winters are pretty mild but you may need to bundle up a little bit. Oh, and don't worry about rain gear, because we don't often get real weather down here!

Parking on campus is expensive and inconvenient. I found myself paying several hundred dollars to park in an uncovered lot that was over a mile away from my classes. Not to mention if there was any sort of sport event, I got bumped back to another parking lot that was even further away. I now park at a friend's house and bike a mile and a half to class because even that is easier than dealing with parking on campus.

City bus are great but the shuttle bus are very over crowarded and only run every in mins so some time you have to miss the shuttle and get the next one do to over filled buses

My program in Doctarate level in Nursing, which enables me to give back to the community with the knowledge I gained from school. My professors are excellent help for me to suceed in every way. They provide us with mentors and prepare us to work efficiently.

The cirriculum is excellent compared to other Universities in AZ. This ciricullum prepares a graduate student like me to excell in my field and get fully equiped to serve the community.
