There are not that many options at campuses other than in tempe.

Great Food – There are a lot of off campus places to dine around the college.

Before I Was a Student – I have been to parties and bars around the school even before I was a student

Perfect Mixture – ASU is a perfect mixture of successful academic programs, strong athletics, an amazing social scene, and tons of opportunities. The best part about ASU is that there is something for everyone. You can be an honors student and still be able to be an athlete and go out and have fun on Mill Avenue. There are opportunities to join Greek life, major in whatever you want, etc...

Awesome Sports Program – ASU has some of the best athletic teams in the nation every year. Each Saturday during the fall semester, students fill Sun Devil Stadium and the local bars and restaurants to cheer on the football team. The athletic facilities are definitely some of the best in the country and are constantly being made better. Students are always talking about sports on campus, and every Friday during the fall, students wear yellow to support the football team and bring out that school spirit.

Great Area for Students/Young People – Tempe is a great place for students. It has everything you could ever imagine for young adults. There are great restaurants, bars, and clubs for the people who enjoy going out and partying/drinking. Tempe Town Lake, located right by Mill Avenue, holds concerts, cultural events, etc... Tempe also has lots of sporting activities thanks to ASU and spring training for Major League Baseball (LA Angels have a stadium about 10 minutes away from ASU). Most of Tempe (at least the north area) is made up of students, so there is a great, welcoming attitude towards young people.

The best way to make sure that you get a parking spot is to buy a permit to one of the many lots on campus. There are covered lots that are more expensive, but are definitely worth the money with the sun/heat we get in AZ. There are also uncovered lots around the edge of campus that are much cheaper and some have shuttle services back and forth. For the people who don't want to buy a permit, there are lots of metered spots, but you must get there early to find one since there are so many students.

Good Internships – I've had a couple of writing tutor internships, but they were not for pay, unfortunately. In fact, I haven't seen a lot of paid internships.
The time commitment for each wasn't bad- about an average of 6 hours a week. One experience was really good and it was a challenge, but the other didn't provide much experience but was a lot of sitting around trying to keep busy.

Good Options, but Expensive Parking – I think there are a lot of good options if you live on or near campus. There is a free bus system (orbit) which comes every 10 minutes and drives through neighborhoods and campus. It is super convenient but not the best quality- really bumpy and there can be a lot of stinky people on it because, well, it's free, and not just to students.
There are other student buses that go all through and around campus which are convenient if you park or live on the opposite side of campus from your classes. They are also free (or the cost is tacked on to tuition and fees).
There is the light rail which goes from tempe to Phoenix and vice versa. That costs a minimal amount of money but there are student discounts.
Of course, there is also the local bus system (metro) which travels all over and drops at locations right on campus.
The only problem with campus is the INSANE cost for parking or a parking pass. They can range from 400-nearly 1000 dollars. Daily parking rates are pricey too, averaging about 12-15 bucks a day.

Good Opportunities – As an English Literature major I have had experience with some excellent professors who are passionate about their field of expertise.
I've taken some really interesting courses which incorporate novels which were adapted to film; in on particular course we got to read the novel, watch the movie, and then participate in in-depth discussions about the variations and choices of all parties involved in the adaptation.
There are many internship opportunities which fit different interests within English. I had two internships- one was as a writing tutor for other ASU students, the other was as a writing tutor at a local high school. There are journals, newspapers, etc. that students can work and intern with as well.

While I have had many amazing instructors at ASU, I am disappointed by the expectation of students to be catered to and the willingness of some professors to oblige. Student's aren't always expected to be responsible for their own learning and because they whine over their inability to read a syllabus, they manage to get second, third and fourth chances.
I think students would benefit from instructors with high expectations that are strictly enforced.

Seniority Is Key – They key to excellent upperclassman housing is to do it as soon as possible! The sooner you request your housing the better your apartment will look. ASU has some very nice upperclassman housing just requires early request forms.

Fun in the Sun – Tempe is a city all on its own. There's always something going on and the college community is always involved with something. Beside college activities, the city has plenty of nightlife to attend and great shopping malls all around. The people are always willing to and very friendly.

Too Much to Park – Parking costs too much, and everything is far away.

Heat Waves – The AZ heat can be unbearable at times. At times, temperatures can reach as high as 117*. ASU is a great school, but walking from class to class in this heat is rather uncomfortable and exhausting. But during the late fall and winter, the weather is perfect!

The financial aid offices are TERRIBLE to work with! They hire students that have no answers to the questions you have and can't work with you if your parents refuse to give you their tax information.

Guys & Girls:
At first I thought it was impossible to meet guys here that weren't douche bags, but I met the most amazing guy in my freshman math class and we have been dating ever since! Just be sure to watch out for the creepers!

Average College – Honestly, I feel like my school doesn't offer all that much that isn't available at other universities. I really wish there were more things to do here and it was easier to get involved in activities.

The athletics at Arizona State University are great. The teams perform very well and strive to be the best. They have an excellent support system with the other teammates but more importantly the fans. The fans are behind them 100%. The school spirit is alive and well at ASU

Available but Expensive – Parking is definitely available and you won't struggle to find a spot but it is ridiculously expensive. I think the cheapest parking is in Lot 59 outside and that might be $700 a year. The parking garages are about $700 a semester I think.

Lots of Parties Off-Campus – Abundance of parties with alcohol off campus.
Drinking occurs in the dorms and authority doesn't really care as long as it's not too out in the open.
If you don't want to drink it might be kind of hard to find friends who agree with you but most people won't judge you if you don't drink. Adderall, marijuana and ecstacy were somewhat common in my dorm among certain individuals.
I found a great community of Christian friends (CRU-Campus Crusade for Christ if you're interested) who share the same values and morals as me but before that I was kind of alone when my friends went out to party.

What It's Like – I mean, lets get real here. ASU ain't that bad. Lot's of hotties, but besides that there ain't much to do yadadadabooboo?

Anywhere you go is going to have crappy weather. Fortunately for Arizona it is during the summer when nobody takes classes anyway. The other three seasons are phenomenal.

Health & Safety:
I got jumped by 3 guys walking alone in a neighborhood a tenth of a mile from campus on my way home and I called the police. They were campus police. I was still bleeding from my nose and mouth and they started accusing me of provoking these guys for no reason and told me they were to busy to help me find my glasses that I lost. I expect helping someone properly is a common problem.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
